The real meaning of share trading EX-DIVIDEND is that shares are traded EXCLUDE or without dividend.

Hence on this XD date, Seller sells exclude dividend and thus seller keeps the dividend.

On the other hand, buyer buys  exclude dividend and thus buyer does not get the dividend.

These have same meaning for other things like Ex-Rights, Ex-bonus, etc.

BCD is just a date for their book keeping before they know who is suppose to get dividend and thus their distribution list.

If you are very sure of selling on XD date, then you are entitled to the dividend. If you have not receive it, just call CDP hotline 65357511 to ask.

Dividend cheque come from CDP, not from broker.

If i'm not wrong, you need to hold your share until after Book Closure, otherwise you will miss your Dividend. Usually date of Book Closure is 2 days after XD.

geminigoko      ( Date: 12-Jun-2009 01:26) Posted:

Does anyone know for those who sold their 'Cap' shares during their XD will be able to get their dividend? If yes, is it by chq or direct credit to our poems acc?

My friend who is still holding their shares had received the chq 2 wks ago, whereas mine, no where to be seen just only their statement to show how much I'll get for my div. Need advice, tks!

Use ATM to apply, firstly ATM asks how many is your entitlement, you key in 750, next ATM asks how many excess rights you want to apply, key in 250, or 1250, or 2250 etc. these must be done before the closing date and time.

maxcty      ( Date: 11-Jun-2009 21:27) Posted:

thanks for the important information.

I only have 1000 shares...so only entitled 750 ex-right shares right...how do I apply for excess rights? or how should I round off my number of shares to make it even...

thanks...

This one had a lot of management changes over last few months, they lost a lot in business.  Before they 'halt/suspense' i see that some insiders sell some insider buy. Now new CEO took over, old CEO had a lot of shares. It is hard to know who would dump their holdings and who would collect them. There are also married deals.Read their announcements before making a decision.

News from Aztech..  This one is moving slowly up.

Aztech Electronics today says it will launch a 4-port Wireless-N Router that supports HSPA for the growing 3G Mobile Broadband market at the consumer PC Show in Singapore this week.

Aztech HW550-3G offers dual functionalities and enables the consumer the convenience of sharing 3G Mobile Broadband when they are on the go and the enjoyment of a high-speed 802.11n wireless network while at home.

Simply by docking any compatible 3G/3.5G USB modem to Aztech HW550-3G, business executives and students can share an instantaneous wireless solution wherever they are.

Users can create their own portable high-speed WiFi network to be shared at project discussions, tradeshows, workshops, business meetings, hotels or cafes on the go.

At home, users have the additional option to use Aztech HW550-3G as a 4-port Wireless-N router by connecting an ADSL or cable modem to it.

you can read from sgx website about REIT, http://www.sgx.com/wps/portal/corporate/cp-en/listing_on_sgx/alternative_listing_routes/reits

here just copy first part for reading

A listed Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) is a vehicle for investment in a portfolio of real estate assets, usually established with a view to generating income for unit holders. REITs assets are professionally managed and revenues generated from assets (primarily rental income) are normally distributed to you, as a unit holder at regular intervals. Units of listed REITs are bought and sold like any other securities listed on exchanges at market-driven prices. The majority of a REIT's assets must be made up of real estate or real estate-related assets. This could include commercial, retail, industrial and residential properties that are located within a specified country or region.

A. Benefits to Property Owners

Optimise capital allocation

  • Monetise illiquid real estate assets
  • Redeploy proceeds towards value accretive investments
  • Alternatively, dividend proceeds to shareholders

Create fee based income

  • Creation of fee based revenue stream through management agreements
  • Fee income accorded higher valuation multiple by market

Improve return on assets

  • Enhances efficiency by reducing asset base while building fee based business to replace rental income

UOBKayhian upgrade to BUY with TP1.7., its book NAV=$1.65

We visited CapitaMall Trust (CMT) and key highlights are as follows:
Retail sales have rebounded. 1Q09 performance was disappointing as consumers
shied away from shopping malls during the Chinese New Year season. However,
shopper traffic and retail sales bottomed out in Feb 09 and picked up in Apr-May 09.
Negative growth for retail sales has narrowed. Basic and necessity goods have fared
much better than luxury items.
Quality malls attract long-term tenants. Occupancy reached 99.5% in 1Q09,
which is impressive as there is little impact from the recession. CMT benefitted from
a flight to quality to well-located malls. Core tenants, eg BHG, Cold Storage and
NTUC Fairprice, are players with long-term plans for the Singapore market. Renewal
and new leases for 169,233sf of space signed in 1Q09 boasted rental rates that were
1.3% higher than preceding rates.
Occupancy remains in the high-90%. We visited Tampines Mall, Plaza Singapura,
Bugis Junction, Raffles City, IMM Building and Sembawang Shopping Centre over
the weekend. Shopper traffic was heavy. There were no visible vacant shops at the
malls, thus giving us confidence that CMT has maintained occupancy in the high-90%
going into 2Q09. We are impressed by CMT's efforts in organising promotional,
cultural and educational activities to attract shoppers.
We raise our 2010 and 2011 DPU forecasts by 6.1% and 13.0% to 8.7 and 7.8 cents
respectively after factoring in contributions from Jurong Entertainment Complex, which
will be completed in 2H11. We also expect occupancy to taper off to 94% (previous:
88%) and retail rentals to correct 12% (previous: 15%). Upgrade to BUY with a
target price of S$1.70, based on a dividend discount model (required rate of return:
7.2%, growth: 3.0%).

check with CPF statement first to see if enough cash for applying rights. if not enough, do a cash top up, or sell off nil-paid rights ( if the rights issue is renounceable).

When you have mother shares and become entitled shareholder, they will send you a thick book/document, inside they have very detailed instruction on how to pay for your rights issue .

Generally, two main method of paying  if your share is in CASH account ( that is CDP hold your share). First method  is old tradition of fill up form (ARE,etc) banker draft or cashier order, send mail with your own risk and reach CDP BEFORE the closing date and time. If your mail reach after their closing time and date, your application can be rejected.

Second method is very simple and is preferred , is by ATM. When using ATM, you need to key in correct information, select correct rights issue. I read some people key in wrong information or select wrong share and ended up missed his intentional of paying up for the rights.

Finally, if your mother share is in your CPF account, this one must be treated differently, you cannot use ATM for CPF account, you must contact your Agent Bank and give them instruction to apply on your behalf, they have much earlier closing date for paying for the rights. Make sure you follow their procedure so as not to miss the closing date/time.

computer speed depends much on hardware speed. Bus speed, CPU speed, RAM size and speed, Harddisk speed and size, Win OS , IE/firefox all combined to determine overall speed.

If you  have a 2.4G CPU with 4G RAM , even Win Vista will run so fast that you would not complain. SGX new website load in 2-5 seconds.

I am not sure of your COMPAQ machine, however if the hardware spec is too low, it would not run well with vista ( vista need a lot more memory to load and run than Win XP). So to improve its speed you need to consider either increase the RAM to its maximum , or simply re-install OS to win xp.

Recently owing to SGX new website, I re-install a old machine, just Pentium 1.6G with 1 G Ram with Win XP and firefox, throw away all other softwares. After reinstall WIn XP, the machine is very fast to view SGX website. response is just a few seconds on most commonly views things like all-in-one, corporate distribution and so on.

Thks AK.  Ya my CPU speed of 60hz and the screen refresh rate of 60 to 75 hz. I was thinking whether cpu speed might affect the download time of the quotes, thus looking for a better alternative if any.  I prefer my XP better than the Vista Home.  My XP on Dell performs superb while the Vista Home Basic on Compag starts like a snail.  I feel like throwing away the compaq machines, but have to wait till I get some good machines.  To those who want to buy fast computers you should ask the experience of others before you make your purchases.  Ak can give good advice.  Don't just fall into the salesman pitch.  Dont buy the combination of Vista on Compag else you will regret.

Broadband wise, beware of getting a slow connection.  When I was at my friend's place, I suggested he change his ISP or get another plan.  His M10 (mio) was so slow in connecting and whenever you browse to another URL you have to wait about 5 minutes.  So be careful.  I am looking forward to good ISP coming to Spore,  Regret our local performance.

Thursday, 04 June 2009 09:05

Keppel Corp (KPLM.SI), the world’s biggest maker of offshore oil rigs, said today it is prepared to help in the restructuring of a customer that has placed orders worth about $1.7 billion with Keppel, reported Thomson Reuters.

The customer, Norwegian firm Skeie Drilling & Production (SKDP.NFF), said in a June 2 announcement on its website that it had missed payments on rigs it had ordered and that it was in breach of an agreement with bondholders.
