bukit whipsaw....lol. lemme guess, you queue at one px, cannot get, see it going up, panic, and rush in to buy cos scared will miss? :P

hehe. it's ok lah. if your stocks are fundamentally supported, a few cents shdn't make much of a dif since it's long term you're holding. unless you're trading lah, in which case, timing matters more...

zzz...elf is bored...gotta wk tmrw. sian.

ferrochina appears to be waiting for something to happen...

eastonbay...unisteel appears to be downtrending; but the downtrend might be ending soon tho. equal no of buy at seller's px and sell at buyer's px.

MFI shows smart money flowing out of the counter starting from 5 days ago. be careful of break below 1.88.

fyi.

haha, cks, you have some very cute emoticons. i like the coffee drinking one. :)

stocks: actually, if you are a true WB adherent, you wouldn't be buying anything on the SGX/Sesdaq... They're all at/above NAV already. in some cases, many, many times above NAV, with no real justification, even with white knights or whatever. A real value investor wld try to pick up a stock only at 1/3 to 1/2 of NAV.

Which means, either do value plays in other countries (S Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia are candidates, as is Japan), alternatively, switch strategy if you're in local market: It's growth, momentum and TA plays left.

elfie still holding onto smb. playing sembcorp and cosco now. scalped achieva twice last week; thanks to shplayer hehe. (note: not an inducement to trade ah...)

getting tougher to make money tho...it's really scrapping the barrel here. :(

good luck to all and happy hunting! asterisk, do learn to read some charts yea; it'd help your FA a lot. :)

not bad...DJIA holding up pretty well so far. abt -54 pts. if it closes neutral/slight down, shd allay some fears somewhat here.

watch the ASX for guidance; aussieland is one hr ahead of us.

sporeguy,

info requested:

ave traded size: 9.6 lots.

weighted ave px: 3.8738.

sold to buyer: 1,141 lots. bought from seller: 935 lots.

most trades done at 3.96 (total of 69 trades transacted, 303 lots sold to buyer, 143 bought fr seller). next most frequent trade at 3.78. 28 trades there. 58 sold to buyer, 73 lots bought from seller.

your panic selling occurred at 3.72 and below.

As for the anomaly: $3.38 shows 6 trades transacted, 2lots  sold to buyer, 13 lots bought from seller. lkg at time and price of the sale, the mistake (or more like panic) was by one seller: 40 lots in all sold between 15:54:11 to 15:55:12. He sold down the quotes between 3.50 to 3.38, hence the sudden drop.

total vol transacted was 2,422 lots. dun think 40 lots will scare the market that much lah...all retail sizes of 1, 2, 5 lots. lucky ppl who picked it up...

STI tech reading: ~3505 is your support level; be careful of a break below that. resistance at 3690. your first warning bell is 3540.

watch for sustained action to determine trend, not flip flops up and down. that just means nervy market dancing.

fyi, just my opinion ah.

oh yah. i had forgotten abt StA. techs changed for it: broke lower of the W formation on 12th jul. appears to be headed downwards now; means the peak on 1.68 was likely it for that period of time.

techies pls note: with today's effect, your charts change. macro-trend at work. old targets no longer hold. need to recalibrate everything.  esp the prop stocks, not just in terms of fundamentals, more in terms of momentum (ie, sentiment).

actually, asterisk, they can drop it in half a day if they want to. just dump lor. sell down the quotes. dun forget oct 1987, oct 1929 crashes occurred in one day.

but anw, let's not have doomsday talk lah. it'll only breed irrational fear. watch the dow and see.

been busy with wk lah...

haha, asterisk, if you don't want nickyng to short your counters, simple, don't post them out.  :P

haha. but really, if what you are holding are solid counters, then you shd have no worries. can instead look to add in positions. dun decide anything yet tho: watch the dow tonight for direction. if you're not in a prop play, and if you have enough nerves (assuming you're in vic's kantangs, at low px), hold through whatever correction to reporting season in august. cos the fact is, fundamentals have not changed. the dip is in fact your chance to get in position.

be careful if you're holding speculative stocks tho. the PE ratio is your guide to adding, or cutting.

if unsure, standard method: half and half. ie, cut half keep half.

don't listen too much to doomsday sayers, or cheerleaders. cut out white noise and listen to yourself. :)

btw cks, like that puppy pic you posted up some days ago: the two guys petting the doggie one. hehe. :)

ok, going off work. long day today. sigh.

haha, kid, hope you survived this sudden sell down. exciting to be in the market eh? *grin*

likely a kneejerk reaction lah. market was too high and too frothy anw. some of your top vol counters are actually in debt and negative EPS, but still ran so high.

anw, don't speculate on the future. market too emotive now. watch dow tonight and see. if dow drops, consider scaling back positions; wait for bottoming to add to fundamental plays.

all markets down except china and spain (from shplayer).

contra trap for the pennies. friday/mon can do some bottom fishing if dow's up. hehe.

careful trading, contra trap for the speculatives. wait til fri if want to buy in. watch US closely; divergence btwn actual news and investor sentiment. same with s'pore: if enough ppl believe a correction is here, then, a correction will be here.

o/w, it's just usual panic city.

props will be hit hardest. hb dropped 13c alr.

concur with shplayer on all counts.

also agree with knightrider, let's just move on, yea?

and yes, as per eastonbay's perceptive post: personally for me, i have to use a nick. not that i'm against using my own name, but my job sensitivities are such that i cannot be caught on any news media, be photographed, quoted, or such. like heck, even my hp camera function is sealed off. that's why i'm lkg for phones with no cameras.

so yea, if SJ insists on real names, then i'll def have to stop posting. wldn't want that tho... and yep, on elf's part, as with shplayer, def without malice or ill intention. like heck, i'm prob one of those silly few who post plans etc before i buy a counter!....not to mention the techs on counters i don't even own. haha. all caveat emptor, of course. :P

hey, thanks cks for the flowers and the warmth. :)

HGM: can sell already. third day of breakout was yesterday. shd be abt 5c profit for you? time to lock in.

consider outing all speculatives soon. esp if you have no time to monitor.

elfie has moved part of her funds into safer counters for now, as a hedge. waiting for a last, risky one (SMB) to run, likely in aug. then will lock that in too.

additionally, have also id-ed my own strategy for 4Q of year play. am not going to go for just momentum/growth plays, but a mix of value and growth, across industries for some security. 3 counters for growth, a further 1 or 2 as hedge (as above). will update as appropriate. one of vic's kantangs is in my list. hehe. no more speculative trading; too risky for now, esp cos i got no time to watch.

k, gotta go, work time! :)

hugs to you fruitty! (i assume you're female ah...) and of course to grandma choohian and singaporegal too! :))))

PS: standard disclaimer: above all my own opinions, pls vest at own risk and due diligence ah. not an inducement to trade! (elf scared liao...haha)
