Genting International Public Ltd: 1Q boosted by non-cash items

Summary:
Genting International Public Ltd (GIL) released its results late last night. Revenue for 1Q07came in at S$196m rising 8x YoY and net profit came in at S$68m rising 13x YoY. The key reason for the strong growth was due to the consolidation of Stanley Leisure into its accounts. Stanley Leisure became a subsidiary effective Oct 2006. A clearer picture of GIL?s core operations is on sequential basis. In that context, GIL?s results were less impressive. Revenue fell 5% QoQ however PATMI rose 74% QoQ. But the bottomline was mainly boosted by fair value adjustment of financial assets worth about S$65m. Excluding this adjustment and other income, GIL would have net profit of only S$2.7m down 20% QoQ. Finally, in terms of rating, we see limited upside from current trading range and we thus maintain our HOLD recommendation with a fair value of S$0.86. (Winston Liew)

With the price closed on Friday at $1.47, now 74.5cents is good to short........

Why?

Cos if you got at $1.47 last week, u got 1 for 1 bonus share + dividend 2cents per share......

If you sell now at 74.5cents x 2 = $1.49 + 0.02 cents = $1.51 still higher than closing price of $1.47.

Moreover a lot of ppl buy from low of 92++cents till $1.50 ++

Fair prices should be around 60 to 65cents...be caustion when trade as ppl who hold on it will sell if they are using margin account to buy......3 days later sure got margin call......why ? cos margin only 50%....

For F1 coming in, for sure will bring in a lot of tourists......

GIL will be benefited quietly as they need not pay their profits to F1 and attracting tourists from the promotion out of the F1 Race.....they will save a lot of cost on the promotion of their Theme Park in Sentosa...

Moreove they are out of the city zone, an island good for relax, play and fun after the race....

Good to vest GIL from now....

All the counters starts with China or Zhongguo will definitely get hit first......cos the names are related.

Chen meng shi huo, yang ji chi yu.....

That's why Thurs & Fri, all are very careful trading with those stocks, esp China Hong......on 28 Feb drop more than $1.......now share split to 5 ...can drop more than 20cents.......The prices can drop from 70cents to 50cents......so wait for this opportunity to buy up when drop more than 20cents.......

I think is not wise to vest this counter........

Singapore getting F1 does mean of getting OKP to build the track......There are so many contractors oversea......I meant of experienced one.......High risk to vest.....

Good luck to those who vested.....

cyjjerry85,

Under the bad settlement time like now, possible that someone having too much stocks on hand and no more room for them to keep.....The onli thing is to dump the stocks.......

Another reason if you have observed this afternoon when news from radio anounced China is looking into corrective action as China market is too hot until yesterday, the whole of the Asia trading volumes, China markets contributed 50%......market gotten soft very fast after the news.......risk is too high to hold the stock now.....Rather keep the money to wait for GIANT Correction.......
