Hi BT, you are not playing earnings on DBS since they are announcing their result this Fri?

Good opinion on GenSp PPS.

No comments on that, but all I can say is I saw how packed GenSp was last quarter during holidays, and the hotels were also packed. Universal Studios was sold out for the whole of December, you couldn't even buy a ticket even if you wanted to.

Results can't be that bad, but whether or not it beats expectations is another matter altogether.

As for DBS, I am not touching banks and properties after today, till the China's monetary policy worries blow over.

i'm on the same standing that gen sp will not do worse than last Q.. but i'm worried how well will it do?... if it matches last Q's results... will the market take it as a good sign..?

also.. in regards to the PPS.. it could be a policy thing that they give out every 6 months or something.. unless we are able to get confirmation that this is indeed a reward for good performance by the company?

also.. BT.. would like to seek your opinion on DBS.. which is releasing results this friday...

" Vested" is the important word.

I concur that GenSp Q4 will not do worse than Q3.

I am quite skeptical about Genting SP gambling market share is larger than MBS.

No concrete data have been presented so far that show Genting gaming market share is larger than MBS.I strongly believed FY2011 ,we will get to see the " real" gaming market share of these 2 casinos. And i believe the differences of  these 2 gaming market share are not that great.Location wise,MBS have an advantage over RWS,it is more nearer and easily accessible.RWS recognize it and provided free shuttle bus from the heartland to RWS ,however due to some" noises"   the free shuttle services have to stop.Of course,VIP business is also important for Casino.

For the coming 4Q result FY2010,a lot of speculation is gong on.But we could only try to guess will it be better or worse than 3Q result. The only method we can determine is by PPS(performance share scheme)this is a scheme that award Genting SP shares to it's key executives that have fulfilled the performance target set by the board.Although not 100% foolproof but

Prior releasing the Q2 FY2010 impressive result,PPS had been awarded to it's key executives on June 2010.

This year feb 2011,PPS were awarded to it's key executive.we can only guess the result is not that bad but cant be worse than Q3 FY2010.And this yr i believe Genting SP might consider giving out dividends.

Casinos are all smiles – Gambling is one of the most popular activities during the Chinese New Year. The casinos would have seen a busy weekend as visitors flocked to try their luck. As we return from the holiday season, either grinning over our gains or lamenting our losses, casino operators would likely be all smiles. The takings from this peak session would almost definitely translate into a stronger set of 1Q results. Las Vegas Sands (LVS) reported good 4Q numbers last week on the back of strong activities in its casinos in Macau and Marina Bay Sands (MBS) in Singapore. MBS generated US$305.8m of EBITDA with a margin of 54.6%, the highest figures from any single property in LVS’ history.   However, the performance is not all rosy, as VIP rolling volume saw a decline on a q-o-q basis. Genting Singapore is set to release its results in mid-February and would likely report a respectable set of results following MBS’s fine performance. Genting Singapore is the top volume stock today as the Singapore market opens again from a 4-day break. The stock has traded lower probably on worries of a similar decline in VIP rolling volume.
My View: If MBS is set to produce such results... Genting SP will surely do better. As Genting SP has larger market share compare to MBS. Therefore their revenue shall be much higher. < ---- This is no brainer.....    Also there saw a decline in VIP rolling... could it be MBS is losing its VIP client to Genting SP... We wont know ... But I am almost 99.9% sure... Genting will perform better than MBS.
Good Luck.

Nomura raises Noble target to $2.76 vs $2.52

Nomura raises Noble Group’s (N21.SG) target price to $2.76 from $2.52 after upgrading its FY11 earnings estimate by 2.9% to US$727 million ($927 million) to mainly account for Cerradinho sugarcane mills acquisition and a higher coal environment.

“A positive macro environment and continuing supply disruptions (like Queensland coal) would help Noble’s short- and mid-term performance, in our view,” says Nomura.

It notes Noble is trading at 15.3X FY11 P/E, which “is not expensive (in the) current bullish macro environment, and with volumes on the upswing, the continued earnings delivery should support valuations.”

It keeps a Buy rating on the stock. The stock is down 0.4% at $2.28.

OCBC Investment maintains Golden Agri at Buy

OCBC Investment Research maintains Golden Agri-Resources (E5H.SG) at Buy and keeps a $0.91 fair value estimate due to persistently bullish CPO price outlook the stock is +0.7% at $0.725.

The house says Golden Agri’s lower production volumes will be offset by higher CPO prices. “On the demand side, we believe that consumption of palm oil will continue to be fuelled by the growing affluence of India and China, the world’s top two importing nations.”

While the house currently expects CPO price to edge above US$950/ton in early 2011 before dropping off after mid-2011 it adds, “given the confluence of negative factors driving up food prices in general, which could keep food prices elevated for an extended period” it may be necessary to revise up the base assumption in the near future.

STI flat banks results ahead eyed
WRITTEN BY DOW JONES & CO, INC

Singapore’s STI is flat at 3189.70 with banks and some property stocks weighing due to concerns over more possible tightening measures by China and as investors eye upcoming earnings reports by Singapore banks.

“People don’t want to build up positions ahead of the results. Worries still remain that China tightening may have a spillover impact on the property and bank stocks here,” says a trader with a local brokerage.

He adds, “there are worries that the government may take more measures to cool the property market, despite recent tightening moves, as the mood in the sector remains buoyant.”

Singapore banks will report October-December quarter results, starting with DBS (D05.SG) Friday. UOB (U11.SG) is down 0.8% to $19.54, OCBC (O39.SG) is off 0.6% at $9.77, while DBS is down 0.3% at $15.14. Among property stocks, City Developments (C09.SG) is down 0.7% at $11.32. Wilmar (F34.SG) is the top gainer, rising 1.3% toS$5.50 on news it plans to invest US$900 million ($1.15 billion) in Indonesia to build new plants.
