I have friends who are skeptical of
CFD's and have no faith whatsoever with the
CFD mechanism (business model). They still swear by their
margin account.

Any comments from any
CFD users here ? Ever been forced to do something you didn't want to ?

i started out with 20-25k...... that was when i first started buying shares.....
only  late last year  i go into cfd, and my capital for this cfd is really very very small :D

When I started out, I only had 30k as capital.
So yeah, consistent profits is the key |

Yes, you got it.
However don't be surprised if SSE and Hang Seng decide to rebound later in the week.
Whatever it is, STI is at the mercy of Dow, SSE and Hang Seng.
It is getting increasingly challenging in this sense, when you have to deal with multiple markets and not just the local market.
When is China gonna hit us with another hike? You never know.
Big markets like Dow can just shrug it off. But not the tiny red dot called Singapore.

then like that...STI lagi worse right? if it's down when DJ/SP500 are up so strongly, when the latter 2 correct deeply...

Yes it does.
So wait for the correction to come before entering.  |

BT, US Market looks ripe for a correction?
BullishTempo ( Date: 09-Feb-2011 14:27) Posted:
There will be multiple small interest rate hikes of about 0.25 points for the rest of the year till China is satisfied that inflation is under control.
Like I said last night, the only way to trade STI for the moment is news and earnings announcements.
Otherwise get ready to shift your trading funds to US where stocks are benefiting most from QE2 and influx of smart money.  |

say BT... now that the hike is done and market has reacted..
will the banks be any good?.. or they will still be lacklustre since it is mentioned somewhere that there is likelihood of more hikes... likely another coming before the next china  CPI report after this coming one... ? |

This is what happens when funds are withdrawn and put to better use in other markets.

i think you misunderstand. I'm considering going into the US market for long term, not short term speculation. Don't really appreciate your tone, by the way.

I'm also in training myself  up but still lose money on  cfd a/c thou not alot. I think its a  psychological issue  for me to see  statistics ie. margin, cash resources ticking  live at the top of platform screen which affects me alot. Whenever i see deficit on  trade order,  i want to cutloss. Its a  sure way to lose milkshakes like that zzzz. Whenever i  attempt shorts to  practice textbook theory in market's live firing range, its  normally half of what i will go long on to reduce risk exposure.
As for  some of us  here (ie. crystal, ic and jfierce)  who  wants to venture into  US market to strike it big, please ask yourself whether  you've  got the fortitude to win  consistently on sgx first. Nyse is the world's largest casino stock market, so  you've better be a good gamer because the house is  one fast  ticker.
You've  got to  lookout for pre market gaps, opening, lunchtime chop, closing and after  market hours plus news reading  sometimes thru the night. Can hardly have dinner with a peace of mind  or go  on dates at night if  into active trading.  First foray  into foreign waters  do not  go  trade  on  cfd or options, until  one plans to topup like mad. If you don't have spare money to lose, then  is it worth the risk.  I'm saying all these with the exception of  BT aura  because he's in  a completely  different league.
