As you become more experienced, you will find that

every single day is a day of uncertainty...

People will say they 'follow the trend'.

But the truth is no one knows the trend until after the event... Smiley

So what is your next move?

Palm at 3-yr high on supply, China growth prospects (09 Feb, 2011) Malaysian palm oil futures jumped to a fresh three-year high on Wednesday as traders bet on further tightening of supplies and strong economic growth underscored by China's surprise rate move. On Tuesday, China, the world's No.2 vegetable oil buyer, raised interest rates for the second time in just over six weeks, renewing its battle with stubbornly high inflation. "Theoretically market should fall after Chinese government increased bank interest rate but traders think the other way round. They see it as a hint of strong economic growth within 3 to 6 months," said a trader in Kuala Lumpur. Palm oil also drew support from concerns that the recent heavy rains and floods would have an impact on yields in Malaysia. A Reuters survey showed Malaysia's January palm oil stocks could fall to a six-month low of 1.45 million tonnes ahead of official government release due on Thursday. By midday, the benchmark April crude palm oil contract on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange rose half a percent. Earlier in the day the contract hit a three-year high of 3,929 ringgit ($1,295.204) a tonne. Overall volumes shot up to 11,559 lots at 25 tonnes each, compared to the usual 7,500 lots. Technicals were also bullish. A Reuters analysis showed palm oil is likely to surge towards 4,060 ringgit per tonne as an upward wave (5) is advancing. The most active Sept. soyoil contract on China's Dalian Commodity Exchange hit two-week highs, playing catch up with overseas markets that gained when the country's financial market were closed for one-week Lunar New Year holiday. "China's markets have not recover fully as most traders still on holiday," a trader in Shanghai said. "The trade also reflect traders anxieties on world's food supply ahead of U.S. Department of Agriculture's global supply/demand data." The USDA report due later in the day is likely to report an additional tightening of U.S. and global soybean stocks in February, analysts said earlier, providing upward momentum for global oils and grains prices. U.S. soyoil for March delivery inched up in Asian trade hours ahead of the data.

As a trader, it appears you must learn to " mau" big and average up too...

Otherwise, making kachang profits will make you lose patience.

And getting stopped out will also make you pull your hair

and bite your nails every day.

Thus, learning the right basic things is very important...

If not, your inspired $600k dream can evaporate very fast... Smiley

You can say I was lucky.

I traded one and only one counter from June to October period last year. I bought in around 99 cents for GenSp using CFD (30k becomes 300k), and I kept averaging up till it reached 2.18

Single most profitable period of my trading career so far.

CPO price remains high due to bad weather and thus low production and supply of CPO.

CPO resistance is at   $3950 per tonne. If resistance breaks, we will see $4000.

GAR and Indo are CPO plays, not Olam.

Yes you can say Gar and Indo are good buys now at current price. As to when STI will bounce back I cannot say.

Dow has been on a winning streak for 7 straight sessions. I have a feeling Dow will have a correction tonight.

But even then, that may not stop you from buying CPO counters   Smiley

my tutor also told me, why trade SGX? go NYSE. wall street. dow jones counters. when we trade, we want make it big. and to make it big we need to trade in US, where we can make it BIG or die trying.

I'm also in training myself  up but still lose money on  cfd a/c thou not alot. I think its a  psychological issue  for me to see  statistics ie. margin, cash resources ticking  live at the top of platform screen which affects me alot. Whenever i see deficit on  trade order,  i want to cutloss. Its a  sure way to lose milkshakes like that zzzz. Whenever i  attempt shorts to  practice textbook theory in market's live firing range, its  normally half of what i will go long on to reduce risk exposure.

As for  some of us  here (ie. crystal, ic and jfierce)  who  wants to venture into  US market to strike it big, please ask yourself whether  you've  got the fortitude to win  consistently on sgx first. Nyse is the world's largest casino stock market, so  you've better be a good gamer because the house is  one fast  ticker.

You've  got to  lookout for pre market gaps, opening, lunchtime chop, closing and after  market hours plus news reading  sometimes thru the night. Can hardly have dinner with a peace of mind  or go  on dates at night if  into active trading.  First foray  into foreign waters  do not  go  trade  on  cfd or options, until  one plans to topup like mad. If you don't have spare money to lose, then  is it worth the risk.  I'm saying all these with the exception of  BT aura  because he's in  a completely  different league.
