You mean the mkt is going to drop further after bouncing up a bit?

Read the below news clips to find out.
Anyway next week will be more like a dead cat bounce for STI.
Once the top formation is formed, get ready to short it down again.
A major factor that caused the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis is the mass withdrawal of foreign capital. I see some similarities here.

Roti Boy, just a tip.
If you read the news clips below, you understand last week was a double whammy from China and Egypt.
Egypt issue is resolved, but not China. And reports indicate another interest rate hike from China in March. So I wouldn't stay too long in Asian markets, but thats just me. No sane trader will sit around and wait for another rate hike to hit them in the face.
Take a good look at the regional markets, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong etc. They are all down except for Japan and Shanghai. Why Shanghai isn't down? Because investor money in China are not allowed to invest in oversea Stock markets. We see US and Europe markets rally for weeks while Asia markets tank. Mass movement of funds out of Asia markets is too obvious to ignore, simply due to high inflation issues in Asia right now.
About Egypt, the Suez canal is a major shipping route. And fears about shipping route disruptions caused shipping counters and commodity counters to tank last week.
Come Monday, you can expect shipping and commodity counters to recover modestly.
The counters to look out for :
Noble, Cosco, Nol, Gar, Indofood
Palm Oil hit a new high on Friday, for those who are interested. Expected to hit $4000 per tonne soon, which will be a 2-year high.

The STI is down 1.2% at 3066.11 after the lunch break as investors expect European stocks to open lower on fears that the political crisis in Egypt could disrupt the Suez Canal and might spark political upheavals in other Arab nations.
Kim Eng Securities suggests switching to yield plays. “We are stringent in our selection, picking only stocks with stable businesses and the ability to sustain a good dividend payout,” the house says. On the 30-STI, commodity firms and banks remain the worst performers. Noble Group (N21.SG) is down 3.2% at $2.13 on worries of Egypt crisis affecting global commodities trade. Olam International (O32.SG) is down 2.0% at $3.01 while Wilmar International (F34.SG) is off 0.8% at $5.27. DBS Group Holdings (D05.SG) is down 1.2% at $14.64 after reporting slightly better-than-expected earnings that failed to impress investors. Oversea-Chinese Banking (O39.SG) is down 0.8% at $9.51, and United Overseas Bank (U11.SG) is off 0.9% at $18.66.
A trader tips major support for the STI is at 3040. |

The STI is down 0.9% at 3,074.79 midday as investors remain worried Egypt’s political crisis may disrupt the Suez Canal and spark upheavals in other Arab nations.
“We have already seen a 7.1% drop from last November’s 3,314 high...and if the situation in Egypt worsens, the index may not bottom out for some time,” AmFraser’s Najeeb Jarhom says in a note. Another analyst tips strong support at 3,040. A total of 784 million shares worth $1.02 billion were traded, higher vs 670 million shares traded at midday Thursday, with over two losers for every gainer. Banks and commodity firms are among the worst performers.
DBS  (D05.SG) is down 1.4% at $14.62 after reporting slightly better-than-expected earnings that failed to impress investors.  OCBC  (O39.SG) is down 0.9% at $9.50 and  UOB  (U11.SG) is off 0.2% at $18.78.
Noble Group  (N21.SG) is the worst performing STI member, down 3.2% at $2.13 on worries Egypt’s crisis will affect global commodities trade.  Olam  (O32.SG) is down 1.6% at $3.02 while  Wilmar International  (F34.SG) is off 0.4% at $5.29. |
Monday will see a rebound due to Egypt good news.
And STI will usually rally after Budget Day on the 18th.
You can wait a while more if you want.
I will be vested in US stocks after a nice Dow correction of about 200 points or more. I am piggy-backing my trainer on this one. He expects a 200 to 300 point correction on the Dow this month or next month.
Good luck folks.
