Those who bought it cheap previously are profit taking now. They sell and wait for next round to go in again.

yesterday chiong but no strength, technically, 30 component cheap looks oversold. a bound is a sell can also be a buy...

u know thats one rule i learn from u..so now im trying to learn to play long..before i try shorting. before i dunno i try shorting i lost money. so now i wont even think of shorting i will do long first

This is what I mean when I said that before one ventures into any shorting,
one must know how to play long well first. Only when one has mastered how to play long,
then only one can consider playing short, not before...
Which means, if one cannot even play long well, how can one start to play short?...

I only have 1 counter... Las Vegas Sands (LVS). I think it future is good... I love Casino player. Maybe u can take a look at LVS,MGM both traded at NYSE. WYNN and MPEL (NASDAQ). MPEL is so far the cheapest with 7++.... Prospect is good as all these powerhouse also have stake in Macau. Both the son and daughter of Tycoon Stanley Ho have stake in WYNN and MPEL based in Macau casino :))

Me too has been buying some counter at NYSE... i love gambling but i don't hold any GenSP shares now... if want to buy GenSP must as well buy LVS traded at NYSE or WYNN traded NASDAQ. Or go Hongkong to trade at Sands China or Wynn Macau
Financial sector can look for Citi Grp (C) , Bank of America (BAC), AIG :) |

The other factor to consider is that people invest.
When they invest, they think that stocks must go up and up forever
so that they can make a lot of money for themselves...

Its like buying Cosco way back in 2006 / 2007.
I know a story of a taxi driver who bought Cosco cheap and bought a lot and saw it rise through the roof. He became a millionaire sitting on paper profits but refused to sell. Then as Cosco's price came down, he average down and bought some more. Eventually he lost the million dollar profits and went back to driving a taxi again.
Stock market is not for everyone.

You can start with the Dow, or Nasdaq or S& P components.

Or you can choose from thousands of other counters, like Las Vegas Sands (LVS), etc..
When a market is flushed with liquidity, it will lift the majority of counters with reasonable earnings.
When a market lacks investor interest, even good earnings will not see the price going up reasonably.
Come back to Asia markets again when inflation issues are over and China is done with raising interest rates.
Reports indicate another 2 or 3 interest rate hikes from China this year. And the next hike could be as soon as March 2011.

Good vision... USA is still the largest world economy in the world. U buy a penny and can turn to blue chip which i think SGX stock can ever never reach even when u are dead. NASDAQ Sirus XM radio was olso 1 of it, it fall to 0.05 during 2008... Now trading at 1.8++.... Easily make 30++ fold if u simply pump 1000 dollar to bet that it will not be bankrupt

He's a professional, in a highly paid full time job (not finance/banking/accounting/ industry). Stocks investing is just secondary to him. His method, buy when prices are low or when the market crashes

Imagine he bought just 10 lots at US $1.
That would cost him US $10,000 (2 years ago)
Profits would be : 10 lots x $39 = $390,000 (after deducting cost)
If we are to follow your friend, we could do the easy thing and just buy GenSp now at near $2 and wait for 2 to 3 years, without trading it. Just patiently wait for 2 to 3 years.
But unlikely GenSp will ever reach $20 or $40 like LVS. Probably more like $4 to $5 |
