This is the nature of the stock market.

Once a player has lost, he/she will always want to recover the losses.

Discipline is no ouse. One has to come to a full realisation that

" not losing is already winning" ...Smiley

I thought u have given up on shares. Better dont think about buying once u have made up ur mind. Like that, u will never give up. Once u decided, dont be tempted again. Be decisive.

the last time wilmar was at this level, was july 09. i mean how much worse can wilmar perform considering that 09 was the crisis period?

bladez, sgtrader is right tat the support is at 5.25 and the resistance is at 5.6 now..

so it's safer to buy at 5.25 or above 5.6 once the resistance is broken in a big volume

I believe STI will be flat and directionless between opening to 10am. After 10am, it will follow HSI. HSI and SSE will lau sai tomorrow after the reserve hike. A good time to take profit or  cut loss will be b4 HSI opens at 10am. Just my 2 cts thought, I could be vert wrong in this...

I guess I have to leave this question to the chart experts here like iPunter guru or aura BT.

I also guess its first and foremost important to have the necessary skills to use charts correctly even before attempting to decipher them.

p.s. I remember iPunter saying before that even simple charts provided by SGX would suffice.

You can subscribe to 'Poem Pro-Trader'. If I am not mistaken 'Poems CFD or CFDTrader' DMA does not support advance order types.

Stop limit, oco, trailing, contingent is only supported by " CFD Shares"

You can call Philips to confirm

    in manual trigger mode

    It all boils down to

" take your losses when small" and  " let your profits run" ...

However, in the real world, that is easier recited as a mantra than done successfully.

Yup Gaecia you right. I am using ThinkOrSwim to trade US stocks / options. It has a sliding bar to let you easily set the stop-loss and take-profit triggers just by using the sliding bar, very cool and easy to use, no programming.  Cool stuff !

Once you are in the money, you slide the stop-loss trigger into the profit zone and lock in your profits and you leave the take-profit trigger alone. And vice-versa if market is moving against you.

Only 2 more announcements I am watching out for STI. GenSp announcement on 22nd Feb after 5pm. And Noble on 28th.

Maybe should watch out for SembMar announcement too.

Have a good Sunday!   Should go sleep now... zzz

Yea i said before, Nyse is one very fast ticker & every 1-2 seconds' screen flash can  mean  a difference of bid spread  between usd10-25 for those  few  hundred bucks  stock per share. It is  not easy to  'manually' day trade actively, can go blur and cause human error  quite easily  in the wee hours of the morning our local time.

Aura, try using pre-programmed trigger orders like contingent orders might help somewhat. Best is, do your own customised programmed tradescreens,  you can use that  on ie.  e-mini futures and  forex too. I don't know how those US veteran  traders do it but  you've computer engineering background, it could be easy for  you.

Still, one is up against the high frequency trading houses & black pools. So all is, risky betting. hehehe

Wah brother, so surprised ! and Roti boy too! Don't worry about OCBC, I didn't buy it.

Is it options express? American stocks damn expensive, the only way to trade them is via options. And trading with options requires a whole new set of skills. For one thing, options are not forever, and they expire in a few months, depending on the expiry date of the options contracts you bought. And options devalue the closer they reach the expiry date.

Trading NYSE or Nasdaq is a whole new level altogether, are you ready for it? Losses and profits will be multiplied many times in the US market, and in double quick time.

I am actually just getting myself familiarized with the US market before I jump in. STI takes days to move, but US market can move in that space within one day. I really suggest you use a virtual account and trade first, and not a cash account !

Also wait for the US market correction... even though it may take weeks to come...

    Have a good weekend guys!

PS : Budget mentioned about SGD currency appreciation to fight inflation. A stronger currency is usually bad news for stock market. You see that in US market all the time. Weak US dollar, stock market rises, Strong US dollar, stock market falls.

Read more about the budget in tomorrow's paper. Any policies that try to contain inflation, eg. interest rate hike, bank ratio reserve hike, currency appreciation are usually bad news for the stock market

haha i mean, im using poems to trade now. it can only set a TP (be it lower or higher than ur buy price). I cant set a price to cut loss, a target price that i will want to sell for profit or a highest target price.

Is there any other platform that will allow me to enjoy such benefit?
