I've said similar myself here before but unfortunately the STI market capitalization will always mean we follow either DOW or Shanghai. The two biggest USA reserve holders being China & the Gulf states are the ones that can make or break the cycle.
It's time that STI is detached from Dow's apron strings. Just as Asean nations have been freed from the grips of colonialism, why shdn't STI be? Asean economies are booming and are not affected by any subprime woes (Not like most Westerners who love to spend on credit - hope it's not an overstatement.).!! STI and DOW are at diametrically opposite side of the globe!!
STI high becos of selective speculative counters. There are still some laggard ones ard. Still, at least we not affected so much by DOW these days. Kinda like have a mind of our own, could be positive or negative in a short span of time.
