Hi Solar,
Yes, 5 is still ok but not like 10 stocks.
Hi Jackjames & Farmer,
As I mentioned, look at the China stocks especially those whose business is exposed to the theme in infrastructure, consumer goods etc. Some of the marine stocks will also continue to do well. Look at stocks exposed to commodity theme.
Do bear in mind that one buys at one's own risk.
Livermore,
"The problem of buying too many stocks is when the good ones run up, you could miss them."
It should be the other way round isnt it?

When u buy only 1 or 2 stocks as a long term investors, if one of them fall due to some incident eg sembmar or midas, your portforlio will be badly affected.
My view is for value investors, 5 is minuimum. No need to maximise gain, but spread risk.

Come on tell us one or better still a few good one....I'm waiting to invest my hard earn $.
talk so much but you didn't tell us which one is the good one !
Bad market sentiment affects all stocks. Soon one will realise the fundamentally good ones that continues to grow will eventually climb up and up.....
As mentioned in a earlier post, when you find a winning stock it is important to learn to let it ride up. Just my personal point of view. You might trade something like buy a stock at $1.20 and sell at $1.30. You might make money this way a few times but the amount may not be that significant. One market crash and all could be wiped out or profits greatly reduced.
The problem of buying too many stocks is when the good ones run up, you could miss them.
Good stocks are hard to find. When you think it is a good one, don't lose sight of it.

Some time in the past, it has been said that November and December are good months to buy stocks... how true is that?...
|
Someone said that there are other months that are bad for stocks and it include April, September, October, January, May, March, August, November, June, July, December, and February. Lol.
And a famous investor once said that "There Are No Good Stocks. All Stocks Are BAD Unless Their Share Price Goes UP!" True or False?
So Noble price has gone up nicely, so it must be a good stock. Well, I share your sentiment. Just hold cautiously for all good things come to an end one day. So my trading is take profit along the way and not have to worry when the market will crash, taking along all that profits with it.
I also abide by another trading motto which is never to fall in love with a stock. I just sell without emotion. Falling in love with a stock can be very very costly.
Cheers and good luck!
Think Mani is right on Noble
Don't think it is time to exit the market. I am slowly accumulating bit by bit.
Noble came all the way from 90c. I still remember some of you guys had it above $1 which was some time ago.
Singaporegal... :)
I am holding Noble Grp, which I hope will be able to weather the rough economic and market waters we are in right now.
As far as I can see, the uptrend is still beautifully intact at t his moment... and today's and the past couple of days' volumes are impressive too...
It closed lower today apparently due to small-timers selling on a rally, which is what many of them are doing now (ie. sell for some coffee money on any rally)...
Hope you enjoy while away...
Hi Mani,
Are you vested in any counters? I'm mostly out of the market now.
I'm getting ready to go for a vacation in a few weeks time so I'm exiting my counters so that I don't have to worry about them during my vacation.
Take a look at commodities and some of the great China stocks
Number 1 rule of the game - Manage your risk profile. If you have too many stocks, your mind would not be able to work out the sums fast enough when a crash happens
