The older you are, the quieter the Chinese New Year. You may think it's a joke but think carefully and you will keep it is true.

Though CNY is about 3 weeks away, somehow you don't really sense it like in the past years. Rather quiet.  Is it cos of rising inflation, rising cost of living, or is it the disappointing stock market?

as said many times before, when market is uncertain, flunctuation of intra-day 50-100 points is common...good luck

STI might fall below 3000 if DOW keeps dropping...

Do not assume mkt has bottomed even if U feel it seems to be the case.

There is still quite a bit of US news for the next 2 nights. I won't be expecting any big long positions to be taken by the fund houses yet.

I got a strong feeling that market is bottoming out. Decline has been too massive and severe for the past few weeks. Things are not looking too bad today.

Any comments ?

At this rate of decline, any slight rally will be slow or will turn red shortly as investors will try to sell into strength when the opportunity strikes. It's gonna be a long while, so just collect divvy if applicable.

The market has been dropping every single day until most of us "Ba" (hokkien) already. Even drop another 100-150 points in the next few days we also won't blink an eye.

Hi victorf

Sorry if I have offended you or anyone in sharejunction. I was not referring to anyone in sharejunction, but to overseas and local institutional analysts.

In fact I do enjoy reading your post, together with CashierTan and many others as your post is very "human" and enlightening.

Some of the analyst I also do enjoy reading (although I make my final decision) are R Sivanithy from Business Times, Grabiel Yap from DMG, Najeed Jarbom, Ritesh Menon from OCBC, just to name a few.

Not to worry, only 40% vested (with paper loss of course).

Thanks.Smiley

MARKET is the best ORACLE though we have been proven correct again and again on the past uncertainty period and certainty period with precisions...and we are already being very explicit on the exact date for the past few downturns in july/august, october and jan 2008 for example and always months ahead when we make the call...hope you have lose less money in the process...good luck trading :)

The impression we get from the analysts is that this year second half better.  STI will go up to 3800 to 4000 by the year end.  I'm quite skeptical about this.  Small rebound possible though.

I remember last year analysts were saying second half tech stock would recover.  In fact, last year tech stock slumped the worst in the second half.

When STI was hovering around 3300, analysts say bottom W, when in fact it was a descending triangle.

Buy with great caution.

market in uncertainty mode...only sure thing is that it is uncertain...if you take 14th Jan as advised before for the uncertainty date, you should have not suffered in this round of serious sell down (esp. for China and shipping related stocks)....only advise now is

Rule 1 - Be disclipline

Rule 2- Be disclipline

Rule 3 - Go back to rule 1

You should be able to pick some stocks at low when the uncertainty goes...good luck :)
