Yes, wonder why?
Can't even sell my losing counters cos they are alive today.
Can't shop for bargains cos may drop further.
STI down but some shares up man:)
we could end up somehow flat on Monday even with negative news inflow...as psychologically speaking, ppl still see some hope (although i m not too sure from where...) and in the past CNY years...ppl still carry the hope and buy in...however this week seems to be dangerous still for buying up...
especially looking at the economical data to be released in the US...doubt it may be good as it will point and enhance negative sentiments...we are so near 11999 for DOW
Negative high chances...
Let guess STI tml -ve or +ve.
I guess ard -ve 30.00

![]() ![]() WITH THE Straits Times Index hovering around 3,000 points as I write (Monday, Feb 4 ?08), it is not difficult to find undervalued stocks with good earnings growth for both the short term and long term. |
Markets in
That is why oil is such a poweful commodity.
Just read in news that OPEC is considering switching to Euro for price of crude oil but it will "take time". If that happens, the US dollar could collapse
Just sharing some of my tot.....
STI may just make it..slow and unsteady beginning, B4 settling in, in (+) in the Mouse year.
Every rebound is sell into strength (take ur profit) or another word buy into weakness ( or short into weakness) just like SC. short rallies will come and go as fast as one can catch it.
Traderstudent...:)
Your post should be the star post of the year, Sir...
traderstudent, good comments...
Basically the emotional aspects of investors is shifting as fundamental moves....hence, good to observe the trend.
Forget about rallies. All rallies are strictly technical rebounds probably. Just go short until major trend changes or until all players are overly pessimistic. Now the players are still optimistic and are expecting the market to recover so any rallies will be stale. When stocks sounds like some kind of plague which everyone wans to avoid, the accumulation phase will start.
Ya... the end of the world may be here...
But the more important thing is...
when will the charts show signs of a market rally...
Ya, the end of the world is near. No water and no oil soon.
We are not just headed for a oil crisis but a water crisis. Actually one of the main causes is global warming. Oil wells are drying due to lack of water. Lakes are shrinking. With a growing world population, there would be great stress for supply of fresh water to meet increasing demand. With less water, you have less water for rice crops. That is why coupled with growing world population and a lack of water, agricultural food commodity prices are going to trend up.
Hi Mani,
My analysis was not based on hindsight:) I was already telling my ex colleagues 4 years ago, US dollar would eventually come down. It took quite a while but it eventually came down.
Analysis is easy with hindsight... ie after the event, major or otherwise...
In a still fewer words...
No one can predict the stock market's next move . ..
Sometimes looking at things with a bigger picture, you are not only able to see investment opportunties but it can also help you in making the right career move.
Hi Mani,
Well nothing wrong with your style. But I still feel it is good to have a global perspective when you invest. Then you know where to get ready to "set yourself up".
Four years ago, there were two major themes.
1. US was having a huge budget and current account deficit. It only meant US dollar had to come
down. Four years later it has come down.
2. China and India were emerging and it was widely reported that they would need more energy. It
only meant oil price would be firm and trend up.
I did expect oil price to be firm but never expected it to go up so high. Once you find the correct theme, work backwards to find the right stock and then you can "TA" the stocks all the way as it moves up, it will come down, but it will trend back up again.
