its likely due to the HSI giving cue to STI to cheong in the afternoon...from morning over -200 till end of the day closed high positively over +200...tt's a climb of 400 points if seen frm the point of negativity to positive note...
also looking at the end of day...our STI is at a volume of 1.64billion ...an improvement and better than last week average..hopefully we see the volume and ppl coming back gradually in trading
another thing to note is that...3200 is a level many ppl are looking at closely...it is a key resistance to break and close above it...the positive thing about it is that yesterday we tested that resistance by going up to 3201 before coming down again..the last time we saw 3200 broken down was on 15-Jan...after in which we saw how STI went down...thus, if we were to see it in a reversal manner...that would probably be of an upside..it will be much better to close above the 200MA (currently at the region of 3230)...

HSI turn over so fast......
STI testing 3200....hope it break ya
we are currently getting a small boost frm HSI in the afternoon session as during the morning session ..HSI went more than 200 points negative...now its recovered more than 50% after lunch...seeing current HSI -77 only!
possibly tt explains the reason why STI recover quite some points now...taking cue from Hang Seng Index

the DOW actually dropped to a point last nite -97 before recovering in the later session to close -24...
it may well be a period of consolidation again ...this time hope it will maintain above the 12600 ..& better still like last night to close above 12800 (its 200 MA level)sarahlkh ( Date: 22-Apr-2008 11:39) Posted:

though there are so many bad news yesterday, dow still manage a not so big drop... good sign? investors are looking for good news to buy more than looking for bad news to sell?
oil @ 117... US banks reporting bigger losses.. investors reacting like nothing happened.. geez..
perhaps offloading to go away in May?
