Markets are likely to do some selling today for the first half. However, there is a pretty strong possibility of recovery by either end of today or by tomorrow morning.
I'm expecting selling pressure from Shanghai, and as a result, HSI, but there is no definitive downtrend as HSI and Nikkei are in fact still within an uptrend channel. Uptrend too for STI unless it closes below 3187 today.
In fact, the market open and close are likely to be pretty close to each other - we may see a doji today.
So, don't take excessive directional positions.
Turmoil in markets is easing, says FED Chief. Mr Bernanke. But situation is far from over. "Ültimately, markets participate themselves must address the fundamental sources of financial strains - through deleveraging, rasing new capital and improving risk management".
Investors is still plug by high oil concern as oil surge to nearly US127.00 dollars which can dammed STI Index marching solidly upward. Do trade cautiously this week.
I have given u a bad post.
This is a forum for sharing and all post should be given due respect.
Live and let live.

DJIA must close above 12788 tonight. Better still, above 12800; otherwise, the uptrend formation attempt of the last 2 DJIA daily candlesticks is deemed to have failed (i.e. uptrend channel failure).
Let the markets speak for themselves. Remain nimble in the trades.
AK noted loh. Tks for the 7.8 magnitude quake, hee he.
guys in this forum, as mentioned before. market is still in ranging mode. buy at support and sell at resistants wont go wrong much and wont cost u to lose your pants. those that sell today or take profit, good for u.
just remember dun trust whoever posted here even thou his ranking is high doesnt mean he is good trader. he maybe another jokers here to try make living selling ebooks or entertaining others. especially dun trust their prediction or so call TA analysis. Look to experienced traders like elfinchide, shplayers, singgal 's postings.
those jokers post here trying to grab attention, when they "guess" correct, they are loud. but when they are wrong? they keep quiet but poor ppl lose money becoz of these idiots egoistic losers.. dun let them have their ego boosted at your expense ...
ETF is a very good alternative of unit trust due to the low management fee and not up-front comission charge.
It also provide good a diversify porfolio of blue chip stock, if you think Singapore economic is good.
However it is only good for long term investment which > 5years to 10 years. (you will definitely made money)
If you thinking of short-term better play individual stock with good technical analysis on good fundamental stock lor.
Ah yoh yoh, though yr low is around 3000 and now 3430. Wah waits till 2800, then anything lelong alrdy!!!OK, will peow the burger as time goes by. Tks for the advice.
Then at the time 2800 will think of which stock to buy instead.

Buying into ETF for long term is definitely a good idea, its no secret as many investment guru have been recommended it over the years. BUT, the keys here are timing....timing....timing!
Take for eg. STI-ETF, u should have went in for long when STI is ~27-2800 at least >30% away from its all-time-high. Now is still not too late if u intend to hold long long. Just my worthless opinion!
Farm, yah that house ah, my former boss recommended me yrs ago even it had not been splitted. But then money less leh. Now, hmmm, good idea, reading papers are each an individual needs, esp the pensioner or retirees. OK, will add in this burger for my stock investment diversity.
Warren Buffett lately recommended to buy ETF leh?? How ah. STI ETF fine??? I bought Shenton Trift Unit Trust(10 blue chips in component stocks) in late 2006 and I dumped it mid 2007 and made tour's money for Hong Kong and South Korea for famlies. That time share market soared like no business leh?? So now how??? Needs sifus advice leow.
crazy market...one moment break resistance...the very next moment come up above support level...dunno wad's next....never did expect STI to close above 3200
Wow! Ak, dun know u play so many counters leh......beware of oil related counters, not suitable for retirees! I recommend u a v. good one for safe keeping, its an old man's favorite as it pays good divds without fail yearly, enough to buy u one year supply of rice even u hold one single lot.
It none but the one and only Singapore Pension House....Got it? Good!
Coolz........ had landed on a 3200 soft ground for now.... seems really going for a longer rally ( hope not just the index number but all stocks price, U guys get wat i mean especially these few days)
Will wish that the rally run can last longer but seeing out of steam effect..... haiz.... when will i see the sunshine again like JUN - JUL 07????
I just can hope for these to happen... oil price down, inflation down, bad debts down, housing up, stocks up, my bank acct up up up.....
hahaha... cheers
See, AK just back fr kopi thiam, as no eye for Pm market. But just took a look on the market, seems not that bad leh, SingTel, Kepcorp......
OK, AK buy Crude Oil down. Buy high for SIA or transport related coy(high end one better play, esp for contra) and low for SPC. For SIA 5-6 bids will do. SPC, says full 10 bids, just to play safe. When Q, 1707-1715, your broking houses call alrdy. If tonite CO up, then withdraw the Q 2morow b4 market opens loh.
Watch out for Kepcorp, as sifus posted earlier. Its really heartstriking counter leh. Heng heng still holding some. Cheers.
so it seemed true that everybody sells in May and gone away.........
But how come STI still up? window-dressing? for who to see hah???
102 green and 134 red but still 18.02 points up. Wonder afternoon will come down or not..
indeed it is a boring market now...STI up but seeing many stocks in the red...and if thinking about shorting...may not be a good time too...buying would be of a very cautious mode only...yawnz*
