Actually, I am not too concern over national pride

We do not definitely want to rub the win in as they obviously did not lose much or even little

What I am more concern is that if they won, sealanes, air space may gets choked off or restricted

Just look at our air force when they need to fly for training and you know whay I mean -

they have to manovere here and there

Another thing is water issue years before and you can see their ways of doing things - threats to cut off again and again

One small island for Singapore, one giant leap for S'pore's sovereignty.

Anyway... STI range on Mon - likely 3100-3134. Still major downtrend. Going by formation analysis, this wave may reach 3035. At least 3-4 working days to see this target.

SPore has already has reclaim agenda for P. Branca (from S.T) even before ruling

Spore reclaim some land at the mainland Spore and thay have protested before -

It makes no difference to P, Branca if Spore start mass land reclaim at P. Branca and they also start protest

They cannot do much as now P. Branca officially go to Spore

Ayoh, plenty problems ahead loh. Previously Msia Naval ships anchored near Pedra, Spore alrdy raised voices leow. Now Middle rock so closed to Pedra, if now Msia Naval ships anchor at the middle  bt both rocks, how leow, what is the bountry limit bt both rocks??? The other issue, now officially Spore has the soverignty on Pedra, can Spore do some reclaim land activities around the island without strong objection from over the courseway??? On the otherhand, if Msia building some military observation posts at Middle rocks, will Spore object??? Msia fishermen can now deploy the fishing boats around Middle rock leow, Spore angry, as previouly did??? Ah yah, AK just a small fly, can't do anything loh.

PS. use Spore Can instead, don't agitate them, their national parrot cry.

Anyway, just take note - DJIA as a mkt is still in the woods. Suffice to say, key supports 12609, 12573, must not break. A close above 12661, or better still, 12675 by tonight, will indicate potential for DJIA uptrend in the coming days.

For those who do not know, this comes from those who knew (shipping companies, navies, etc) :

The win is very impt, if not the shipping lanes, sea lanes will get strategically restricted and choked off

You will need permission, etc to get over the lanes if it does not belong to you

It is no small matter for Spore, although bigger countries can afford the loss

Asian stocks mixed at closing

HONG KONG - ASIAN stocks edged higher on Friday, helped by a slight dip in oil prices from record highs, and government bond yields climbed on fears of rising inflation.

Oil prices slipped below US$135(S$183) a barrel on Thursday but were up 3.8 per cent on the week, stoking fears that energy costs could cut consumer demand and choke business investment.

The drugs sector lifted Japan's Nikkei share average 0.3 per cent after Roche Holding AG said it would increase its stake in Chugai Pharmaceutical. Singapore's Straits Times index added 0.4 per cent.

Bond prices sank as investors focused on inflation pressures around the world that continue to build and increase the potential for tighter monetary policy. Growing expectations that the US Federal Reserve may have to raise interest rates to fight price pressures clobbered US Treasuries, propelling the benchmark 10-year Japanese government bond yield to a fresh seven-month high.

'We're seeing a bit of a shift in funds from bonds to stocks,' said Mr Masayoshi Okamoto, head of dealing at Jujiya Securities. The benchmark 10-year Japanese government bond yield climbed 5.5 basis points to 1.710 per cent after jumping as much as 8 basis points at one stage to 1.735 per cent, the highest since October.

On Thursday, the benchmark 10-year US Treasury note dropped sharply to yield 3.92 per cent. The bond market has been volatile as investors who had bet on higher prices during the brunt of the credit crisis unwind those positions. Also, despite the slight fall in oil prices, central banks around the world have made clear that inflation is their main focus, making higher interest rates likely.

US light crude prices settled on Thursday at US$130.60 a barrel, well off a record high of US$135.09. However, many analysts believe it is inevitable that oil prices will continue to climb because of the large amount of speculation and insatiable demand from developing economies, such as China.

'Oil would not be at US$130 a barrel without China's roaring economy and voracious appetite for energy of all types, including oil. If China keeps growing, as we expect, upward pressure on oil prices will persist,' said Mr Donald Straszheim, vice chairman and economist with Roth Capital Partners in Los Angeles.

KUALA LUMPUR
The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) closed down 0.27 points or 0.22 per cent at 1277.96.

HONG KONG
Hong Kong share prices closed lower Friday, down 1.31 per cent, as heavyweight China Mobile plunged over worries that its dominant position in the telecom market is under threat, dealers said.

The fall in prices of China Mobile came as the country took the first step in a long-awaited restructuring of the sector, they added.

The Hang Seng index closed down 329.05 points, at 24,714.07, off a low of 24,693.55 and a high of 25,128.44. Turnover was HK$75.26 billion (S$13.1 billion).

SHANGHAI
China's key stock index slipped 0.36 per cent on Friday but ended off the day?s low, buoyed by a surge in telecoms stocks such as China United Telecommunications on hopes that a long-awaited industry restructuring was imminent.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ended at 3,473.091, after bouncing modestly from the day?s low of 3,435.841.

Losing stocks in Shanghai outnumbered gainers by 616 to 277 but more than 30 Shanghai and Shenzhen stocks soared by their 10 per cent daily limit. Turnover in Shanghai A shares shrank to 76.0 billion yuan (S$15 billion) from Thursday's 93.6 billion yuan.

TOKYO
Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.2 per cent on Friday, led higher by exporters such as Kyocera on a softer yen, while Chugai Pharmaceutical gained after partner Roche Holding AG said it would increase its stake in the Japanese drug maker.

Konica Minolta Holdings jumped more than 4 per cent after it said on Thursday it planned to spend up to 10 billion yen (S$130.6 million) to build a new production facility for high-tech film used to make LCD panels in 2009.

The benchmark Nikkei average added 33.74 points to 14,012.20, while the broader Topix shed 0.2 per cent or 2.98 points to 1,376.69. -- REUTERS,AFP
