market just don't act logically nowadays anymore...actually personally quite surprised to see oil surge so much and yet DOW went up 200 over points...

the morning should see quite some ppl offloading just to lock in profits...the cautious mood and fear still lingers

DOW went up by more than 200 points last nite and today we close at almost intra-day low to be flat....initially looking at the volume in the early morning session..it looks promising...but at 4.45pm i was thinking...could we possibly hit below 1billion in volume today...haha` fortunately..not yet...very thin trading volume today once again...

Looking at the Asia powerhouses - Japan's Nikkei ended at intra-day low while Hong Kong's HSI ended near to intra-day low

As for our local front, we have almost the same number of losers and gainers (273 vs 250) for the day

just my gut feeling telling me that it seems whenever DOW perform well, we don't do tt well...while the DOW is in the red...we may more possibly end up positively

seems many r working on a reverse psychology...when the masses buy on news...shld sell...and when they dump on fear...shld grab...this had happened for the past few days and wksChart

this market probably isn't really suitable for contra ...just a personal thought...need to have the holding power...but in this market currently, whenever u got holding positions, also quite worried what will happen the very next day or so

Market can be forward looking as well, 6 months to years. Long term investors will load up for preparation for the recession to be over. Such rallies are caused by bargain hunters who believe that market is forward looking.

Wall street is just not making any sense... jobs figures on the rise?.. was the increase due to more bankers becoming roadside sweepers?

Wall street surging when oil surge >$5 in a day?

points to ponder..

Yap.  Look like is profit taking day.  Dow up may be a technical rebound.  Tonite employment report, traders will not want to hold position.

we closed today at an intra-day high ...actually saw quite a few counters in the green...however one worrying thing that is observed is the volume...lucky we still got 1billion in volume...we almost end the day below that figure..today's volume is abnormally low...anybody got the record for lowest volume traded for this year?

volume currently still considered low...however our STI had bounce back up in the afternoon session ..likely due to HSI turned green from the morning red...at the moment HSI is at the intra-day highest...this could explain y counters are up
