a question: since HK and Shanghai markets are closed today, assuming DJ is neutral tonight, would HK and Shanghai try to catch 'down' (normally I would use catch-up :) ) on DJ's Friday meltdown and causing another round of bloodshed on STI tomorow ? Then we kenna double whammy?
What's your view?
Mindless perhaps...?

Any idea why no trading today in HK and China? No movements in their index.
today papers both stressed that soaring CO will expedite global recession and most hit one will be stock market.
out look is still very very bearish, if OPEC still don't respond to G8 conference in Japan yesterday.
STI down not much
Expect 100 pts at leats - but now quite ok leh.............
Getting better all the time
Shortist disappointed ........
Hypothesis: this global plunge is really initiated by bond insurer downgrades - leading to a significant unwinding of derivatives and flight from US$ assets. Since short indicators corrected for US based issues indicate a net neutral basis currently - selling could be far from bottom - but because of the potential wider systemic risk a FED put may be in place.
evidence of the initiating event.
corrected "short" indicator is actually @ neutral despite plunge.
of cors the minister has to say that..if not STI drop >100 points already..

amid the panic selling....there's also panic buying by many...the STI going up from the opening...
saw today's newspapers tt our Finance minister quoted saying Singapore won't go into a recession
Surfs up !
Most counters are cheap today. Spolit for choice, yet still do not know what to buy.....
down 80points only so disappointing.. my put warrants could have earned much more..
I am really NOT looking forward to market open today.
My portfolio has already suffered badly. Don't want another heart attack today.
