Elfin... :)
"...And before anyone asks, yes, i'm interested in such esoteric stuff, but i'm a free thinker.
..."
Dr. Paul Bruntons's works are veritable gems of esoteria... they are a delight to the serious seeker...
Wah..using fengshui to predict stocks... like dat oso can ah? "Generally, the stock market belongs to the Fire element. A year of Water will bring about a 'cooling' effect. To cool down the Fire years of '06 and '07" ... quite "jun" oso... haha..
Maybe someone can create another TA indicator using fengshui and the parameters are the five elements...

hey blastoff: yea, some i'm eyeing but it's not yet time to buy. why don't you say what you're interested in instead. there are too many stocks on the market otherwise.
you do seem to be interested in capitaland tho. for that counter i would look for 5.5 min as first entry. preferably below 5.3. price targets are fluid though: it all depends on the trend. what's cheap today can seem expensive tomorrow, and vice versa. :)
For those into feng shui:
using the Five Elements: year of the earth rat, earth, foundation on water (rat belongs to the strongest water element). yang earth above, ying water below: A floating world of instability. what's of value goes underground. so the stocks to do with earth, and born of earth (ie, metal) will do well. ie, gold. agriculture.
Destructive cycle: since it is a year of water and earth: earth destroys water, water destroys fire. So stocks of the fire and water industries will not do so well. ie, shipping, communications, (Water), finance, airline, entertainment (Fire).
Generally, the stock market belongs to the Fire element. A year of Water will bring about a 'cooling' effect. To cool down the Fire years of '06 and '07.
And before anyone asks, yes, i'm interested in such esoteric stuff, but i'm a free thinker.
ah yoh, they are gossiping, how can let you know the lobang. they could further encrypt their conversation by talking in hainanese, teochew, hockchew and kek dialacts as well. you heng already.
AK don't believe in geomercy, but there is one basic in it. ie fengshui must takes turn to turn or change. simply whatever thing to go up it must go down(Newton Law proven). Whatever thing goes in strength, it will weaken in time(proven in proverb, wealth will not cross 3 generation). the other subsets of the theory are more or less are the expension fr the basic theory leow.
ha ha, one point, don't sleep with your head facing N. don't sleep with your head facing W when someone is seriouly illed. he he.
they started off their conversation in mandarin but as they progress into their fengshui stocks...they talk in cantonese le..i dun understand cantonese..hahah`
anyone on SJ still remember wad those fengshui masters talk about the stock markets or particular industries to vest in or stay out? its just for fun la...nth to be taken too seriously...as i remembered for last year i read the newspapers, they were tabulating the 'scores' of various fengshui masters and their predictions...the accuracy wasn't as high as if u were to use technical charts or fundamentals

haha. eh, short term for some ppl is 5 days, for others it is 3 mths. you'll havta state specifically.
and note that the shorter the term, the lesser the realistic profit target. you'll havta go for the highly volatile counters then. very risky.
ah. Blastoff. the appropriate response: what is your time frame of play and target profit?
How long are you willing to hold?

aiyah. actually, it's simple. If you're looking to buy for mid to long term: not yet.
most of the blues are actually just beginning their downtrend. while the pennies have never quite recovered from Aug 17 last year. Note that generally, the highs of Mar-May have never matched the Oct highs. While some of the counters have broken below the Aug 17 low.
It's a mixed market though, which is why, pick your counters well.
More precisely, it is how they affect the DJIA, which in turn affects sentiment on STI. So it's not US news -->STI. It's US news-->DJIA--> STI.
The in between is important, because there is dilution of influence: ie, we may or may not follow the DJIA, as we're also affected by HSI and SCI.
Of the list tonight, the more important ones is Housing Starts and PPI m/m.
Housing Starts measures the annualized number of new residential buildings that began construction during the previous month. The previous measurement was 1.03mil, and the forecast is 0.99 mil. So if all are in line with forecasts, the DJIA will not be affected. Where there's shock movement up/down is when the number deviates a lot from the forecast. So if actual starts (check at 830 pm tonight) are much less, say 0.5mil, then you can expect the DJIA to react negatively and go down. (ie, proportional relationship).
PPI is the Producer Price Index. Closely related to the CPI--Consumer Price Index. If actual > forecast, DJIA will go up. actual < forecast, DJIA goes down. Note that they are forecasting for a rise of 1% cf to previous released data of 0.2% rise. Given that the released CPI was in line with expectations, i don't think this will deviate by a lot: so the data to watch tonight is the housing starts.
