to many it wud still b watch-time, not playtimes yet.
no, fivestar. i mean STI will not dive.
don't look at intraday fluctuations, don't look at the index itself: remember that is made of lesser stocks than before. ie, very easy to give wrong impression. all you need are the three banks to go down, and it appears as though the entire market is tanking. But that's false impression: like i've been saying, it's a mixed market.
Look rationally at the charts of the counters you're into. We won't know til time proves it, of course, and i'd be first to bail if i were wrong hehe, but it does appear as though bottoms have been found for some counters already.
Avoid speculative pennies though. Go slow in parts. And keep a weather eye on gold. it's been sneaking up with married deals. o_0 (that's for those into index linked warrants).
3,000 is the pivot point. Pivots are fun to watch. Playtime.
The surprise for most will be STI on monday. hehe.
Elfin, you mean STI will lose 3 digits too on Monday? The past few days seems very reluctant for STI to linger around 3000 points with low volume too.
yup, monday cud b a "surprise" 4 sti.
haha. thanks for the compliment but it isn't prophetic, ipunter. if i were, i'd be a gazillionaire already. :)
common sense: DJIA on verge of 12,000 breakdown. The upspike of the previous three days was on low vol, while selldowns were on high vols. same for oil: 'retracement' are false downs. Oil is what's affecting US sentiment. Today's quadruple witching day for the US--stock options and futures, index options and futures, all expire. Highly volatile. With no fresh news, momentum continues in its usual path. ie, down.
Doesn't take a genius to figure that out.
The surprise for most will be STI on monday. hehe.
Elfin was prophetic! The Dow did just fall -105 pts shortly on opening!!
US Sub-prime legend John Paulson: It's not over yet...Says write downs could hit S$1.8 trillion, surpassing IMF's S$1.3 trillion. and
Nearly 1/3 of US chief Execs expect payroll cuts......but they also see fragile economy becoming stronger later this year and into next year.
Paul is the hedge fund manager who made almost S$5.4 billion from correctly calling the implosion of US sub=prime mortgages last year.
He mentioned "Sign of stress are accelerating in the housing market, and he is betting on falling securities prices.
He is neither for bull or for bear, "just a realist".
Agree... just fancy anyone expecting a bull-run in the making...
which is not likely to happen until after a period of receding economy is experienced..
haha. can expect to see three digit dive for djia tonight.
our STI ends the day 1 point above 3000 level and the volume is still quite miserable ..hopefully it will increase next week..let them all come back...yesterday was at 1.08 billion...today slightly better up to 1.14 billion
looks like most of the day traders have left, leaving behind market makers. Yawn
vomit inducing roller coaster ride
STI market re-tracing back...
Zaobao said no fear of financial crisis in Vietnam at this moment but BT claimed soaring inflation and the response it triggers from central banks is a greater threat to economic growth in Asia than the downturn in the US.
Is Vientnam's financial system going to be a major issue?
big rise prolly in anticipation for the bulk of traders to come back from holidays n boost up tradin vols next week
if boring and on a steady predictable trend...still nvm...but now is like everytime recently we see STI break down below 3000...we spell doomsday and lots of pessimism sets in...then the next moment it break upwards past 3000...and we will cheer that there's hope....
the thing now is that...it keeps drowning below 3000 one moment and the next moment it floats above 3000.

Boringgggg...
Hmm elf,
Anything good counters to look at ? I was looking at Olam 2.50 , ST 3.60, Noble 2.16
novicex, MACD is the easiest and clearest to read for turn of uptrend.
o/w, it's when a stock holds constant, for days, if not weeks, while the rest of the market is sinking, and everytime it dips below a certain point, buyers appear to shore it up.
I daresay bases have been found for some of the blues already.
