tactical analysis on soccer teams. ooh yea. rather than tactical analysis, it's statistical analysis. i had made all my bets at the outstart by buying the likely winners and the top of table for two groups. hedged it in such a way that 9 out of 13 outcomes were positive.

we can bet on F1 teams? *hhmmmmmm*

yuppers. think long term not short term (even if you're a scalper). wealth is built in years, not days.

what's the point of getting 100% return in one year, but losing 200% in the next two years? really, it's more *sense* to just go for 15-20% yoy.

remember always that trends can rarely be beaten, and those who do so are statistical anomalies. The best performing fund in history for a 20 year period is the Magellan fund. their returns? 25.4% pa.

So let's not be under any delusions of 100-200% returns consistently for decades. If you make 100% in a good year, time to lock it in as well as shut out the ego that tells ya you're wonderful/fabulous/incredible. nothing like pride to kill one's sharpness in the marketplace.

ooh. looks like we'll hit 150 before my 2 mths guess. hehe. wheeee.......Those twitching, think positive: "The best time to buy is when there's blood on the streets".

cheers.

Looks like Elf also performs 'tactical' analysis on soccer teams hehehe! :-P

Maybe time to look at the F1 teams hahhahah!

Back to the markets - so much for window dressing. HSI, Nikkei nowhere near their opening levels. Still distribution mode.

Oh, no such intention really but just sharing my thoughts and flow in the forum.

Anyway, it's always good to learn from fellow forumers like you, be upgraded and wisely prepared. As we all know .. trading in this market is just like fighting a war. Really not for the uneqipped and ill prepared.

And yes, Spain deserve the trophy! :)

hehe, thanks for the 'promotion', sthinvest. pls keep in mind tho that as individual investors, we're all responsible for our own decisions. no one can 100% predict the market afterall.

spain won!!! i had bets on them from the outstart. hehe.

watching soccer till half time. 1:0 in favour of Spain. as DJ last Fri clocked down 106, didn't even sw on screen to do anything, went for breakfast till now. expected market will not not do well, leave it loh. surprisingly, STI sustained ah. good sign, but take care of profit taking loh, next few days.

Thanks! Have been reading ARs and picking some under valued stocks recently. Market is so unpredictable and any major announcement or action from the big economies can very quickly change the scheme of things.. Your list is definitely on my radar. :)

yuppers. keep cool, base your decisions on proper fundamentals and/or technicals, and shut out the white noise of the market.

DCA at this point in time allows you to profit if a rebound occurs (since no one can tell when the real rebound will be); whilst if it goes down further, it offers the opportunity to buy good stocks at better valuations.

i believe i've named abt 6 stocks already on this thread previously. for those who have been reading and trying to find clues.   seriously though, those have FA backing. it's just keeping a clear mind and waiting for entry now. Patience is the name of the game.

Pls read the ARs and make your own, informed decisions, based on your own temperament. What's meat for one man may be poison for another. As with always, remember: you fire the gun, you bite the bullet.

sthinvest      ( Date: 29-Jun-2008 17:29) Posted:

Do agree with your assessment on back to value investment in this market. Doing  DCA while trying to find the bottom is way to go now. Many battered stocks are actually ready for picking..

Don't expect too much of the market. Odds are most funds actually liquidating again on rally.

Today is the last day for the first half -year, thus there will be a "window-dressing" for STI today. Hopefully afterlunch break, "window-dressing" effect will happen, lets see and pray !! Blue chips should up today....
