On the other hand, it may also move positively...

Market will be very quiet today because the US markets are closed tonight on 4th July for Independence day.
retracement in oil px..dun think so, in fact now up 83 cts from yesterday's closing...it is now 144.40
they're majorly supporting the USD. As they call it, the boys in the back room will not let the EU hit 1.6. Should have seen the EU pair; 95% of traders expected it to shoot to the moon, it tanked 150 pips instead. On back of bad news. I believe a lot of traders got burnt. Completely illogical. Buy on rumor sell on news indeed.
DJIA's likely to be positive. It's 4th of July, afterall, independence day. Would a govt let its market be in bear territory ahead of Independence Day?
Watch out for the commodities. I'm still expecting a sharp retracement in them and oil.
last major news is ISM out at 10 pm.
edit: EU dived because the rate hike had been factored in already; what traders were looking for was Trichet's comments. He had said no more rate hikes. ie, caused USD to jack up instead.
Was puzzled by the very last minute push too. I guess someone wanted STI to close near open level.

Wall st always rally on the wrong day. Tml Friday liao I dun dare to take new positions.
US economic news was bad; Trichet raised interest rates on EUR. Oddly enough, USD actually rallied. And so did European markets!
Signals are very mixed. Anyway, tonight Dow's trading for the last day of the week. Looking at how USD rallied, it may actually imply uptrend for Dow tonight. I suppose mkts were looking for anti-inflation measures.
Some really big shifts are happening now... between commodities, gold, oil and equity.
I agree with Elf that it might be the end for puts. BTW, anyone noticed STI gained 16 pts during the post close? At 5pm it was 2864, but eventually closed 2880.
ayoh, chinese wise saying, "future blur blur"!!!!
hehe. ozone, you must be very happy with gold and puts now. hehe.
a bit too low to get into puts now tho, in case some are tempted.
watch DJIA for down tonight. the non farm and unemployment rates are coming out at 830 pm.
yup , agreeable ..
Whether bull or bear market.
it is between this 2 key factors : greeds vs fears !!! one can manage this and success will be on your side.
manage risk!!! manage yourself.
bear market - lower lows will be reached..
how to make $$... PUT warrants during bear rallies.. :)
Alamak. STI really test 2862.

Beat temptation. If one can't control his own impulses, pointless even if you have the best technical skills in the world. the person to beat is not the market, it's yourself.
zzz market.
I think it's still a pretty mixed outlook. Morning was really a bull-trap.
Then again, some commodities are starting to crash. So, looks like one thing's gotta give soon.
ya! not short term. however at times paper loss is really pinchful. short term capital gain is alway tempting. < " _ " >
If there are sellers, there are also buyers as well. Most of them are bargain hunters, i think.
If market reverses, there will be rewarded for taking risk in this kind of environment. The problem is when the rebound will come. US election and olympic may hold the key to this.
STI is holding very well so far. Is this a correction or a bear phase? We are afraid that it is a correction into a bear, a slow one.
how to make money: Don't do short term. (-_-").....
how to make money in such .market.. long. or short. both also tight....
STI put warrant SONG ah!
HSI today needs to close at least above 21496 for potential new uptrend. Better still, above 21555, or even above 21704.
HSI futures is fighting a very tough battle now. Key level 21567. Below this, downtrend continues. Close above this, potential new uptrend.
Feels like watching a movie man... I just traded HSI calls 4 times in 6 mins earlier. Alternating between longs/shorts. Sit tight.
