Noble has a mini double bottom last week, but failed to break up the critical neckline resistance 2.25
IMHO, Noble has no strength for time being and may move side way in short term. May be good for swing trader. cheers!!

Gaecia,
you mentioned in your post below we should cover our short position by 5 pm on ex date or else we will be liable to pay  dividend.
I looked up on  my brokerage website and found the information below.  Does your brokerage have different terms ? I am considering taking a 'short' on S51 on ex date if things dont look good but I don't want to be liable for dividend. Can advise ? Thanks !
For clients who " shorted" a counter during the CUM Dividend (" CD" ) period, please note that if you do not cover (i.e buy back) the positions before the EX-Dividend (" XD" ) date, your CFD account would be debited of the amount equivalent to the gross dividend.
Example: ABC share declared a dividend of S$0.10 per share. Client A shorted 5,000 ABC shares on 14th April 2008 during the CUM Dividend (CD) period. EX-Date of dividend: 10th May 2008. If client A does not buy back ABC shares before market close on 9th May 2008, his CFD account would be debited of the gross dividend amount which is 5,000 * $0.10 = S$500. |

Okay epl, let me tell you something new.
Shorting any counter before the expiry date & failure to cover one's short position by 5pm on the ex date will render the short-seller liable for the equal sum of dividend to be issued (to investors on long positions).
ie. If your short position on ocbc  lapses over ex date,  your cfd provider will auto deduct the  dividend amount from your cfd a/c in the next  few working days. Those trading on cash  a/c,  coporate  dividend payout will be issued  according to  the date stated on sgx's website.  Sembcorp marine's  dividend is  much more than ocbc,  you need to  manage your  short trade well.
Don't say i never tell u |
