bought at 5.88..... still have not decided if i'm keeping or selling.....
31c dividend is very tempting..... i don't think there will be much selling on 25th April.
anyway, will have to call ig market first before i decide on anything

ec, i closed my s-marine position already 5.84....because market quite stormy & don't want to get caught.
at the moment i'm confused partly due to ocbc's behavior today on ex-date its shedding more than dividend issued. |

That is  correct.  I'm abit  simple-minded so  i find it quite a chore  (with so much
more  thinking & work  to do!)  in order to collect that  special dividend.
On  hedging, the execution on entry & timing need to get it  right  to avoid losing money.  The execution part to  trade 4 ways (to close the long & short positions) is something  that i'm not confident  of so i would  rather not play. Unless  with headwinds ie.  keppelcorp announced stellar results  & with news of sembmarine  awarded contract that will help to reduce risks by a good measure & worth the attempt.

DMA might have more flexibility. Many landmines in the market now. CD here, CD there, CD everywhere, ME, Japan, Europe, US,  .......  many of the problems they didn't have in '08... Gotta tread carefully, don't step on one

Any rare gem to suggest ??? I 'll understand its still a bet

Taking the leads from dow, japan, hk and shanghai no doubt. All are down.
If you look at STI from January till now, it still looks like a bearish trend, and at best a sideways trend if we manage to go back up to 3300.
I am expecting significant movement for STI only towards 4th quarter.
The only way to play this market now is to spot specific stocks which may give earnings surprises. Like what happened to GenSp in August 2010.
You only need one such rare gem every year.

The div does give us some buffer  but still not gonna fall in love with the amount. Guess shorting it on XD may be a 'wee bit late' Shorting on XD does not incur div  penalty so says my brokerage but as iPunter always says,'its a bet'.....
We may have different methods as our situation is definitely different... but whatever works. Thanks for sharin |

sembmarine  is quite stable still.
A piece of information for you guys. Keppelcorp is reporting Q1 tmr after market closes, if results are  good  that will be a catalyst  to lift s-marine going into thurs & mon, last 2 days  before ex date.

wah this i really  can't  advise you cos  this is my  first yr into dividend season on sgx. My brokerage told me sometimes it may drop more than dividend amt on expiry date, depending on market conditions.
Can you check with your teacher/ sifu who coached you on TA?

Cash. thinking of hedging in general as I have other exposures as well, probably looking at something straight forward e.g. the index... unless someone here can suggest otherwise.
Not gonna fall in love with S51 and still prepared to do the needfull when the situation calls fo |
