but what causes the surge in trading vol right now? UIC and capitaland, which is the better bet. (Iam new in stock, btw)
The 2 bigboys having majority stake is wee cho yaw and go kong wei, together combined about 70%, with Morgan stanley's ~12%, thats about 82% for just 3 top shareholders... so, not much free float for manipulation. Also, NAV is $2.34, current trading price is at a discount of near 50% NAV. Believe can hold it for longer term until property cycle picks up again. But not very sure if should wait if the price will drop further.
Anyone can shed some lights on this counter. Worth investing? And is the fundamental strong?

In Scenorio 3, the counter offer is by MS.The average price GKW paid is very much less than $2.85.
Let said, GKW sold UIC to MS at $1.50 on condition and the counter offer by MS at $1.50.
WCY will has to raise the offer. Strategicaaly it is good for MS and GKW.
In stock mkt nothing is sure and nothing is impossible.
Scenerio 2 ....highly unlikey.....price too low ....MS wont sell.
Scenerio 3.....very, very highly unlikely.......lowest price GKW can counter offer is 2.85...the highest price he paid for UIC in past 6 mths. Cost to him if he counters will be about $ 3 bil...see BT article in other thread.
Scenerio 1......highly probable......price too low. As stated earlier..this GO by WCY is not serious.......shareholders will not accept GO. Current price of 1.25.......common sense dictates which way shareholders who want to liquidate will go.
No brainer....

3 possible scenario.
Scenario 1
WCY offer failed and can only buy 1% of UIC share in any 6 month period.
Scenario 2
Morgan Stanley took the offer and WCY shares increased to 42 %
GKW now the second largest shareholder with 36 %
Scenario 3
Morgan Stanley with the support from GKW , a counter offer with higher price.
Combined they have 48 %.
If this happen, WCY will has a hard time.

if not sure, then dun dip your head into ds burger loh. nothing to lose one. Cheers.

Ha ha, DIC also in the same ship. Wondering how much perks d people can get fr d new budget.
Much hard cash had been evapourated fr our pockets. D amount getting fr d new budget to put back inside our pocket, negligible liao, guesses.
Nonetheless, as d old folk said, investment is 5-30yrs down d line ones. Thats not wrong either. Wait long long is the words loh. Still worth a cheer.
Time for break.

Temasick got no more $$$. Lost all in foreign banks, Foreign telecom cos, Aussie Child care...etc. Now, sold or trying to sell assets (SpFood, power stations) to recoup some $$$. So, don't think they can afford such a venture at this time. Perhaps its better this way, cos whatever they touch, they lose $$$$, which is our $$$$.
Also, many years ago, Temasick, thru DS, tried to takeover OUB Group.......but got outsmarted, out manueovered by WCY....and OUB fell into the hands of WCY and was merged with UOB.
Today, UOL still controlled by WCY......so, looks like Temasick's effort to block was in vain.....
Many years ago, Sp Food was a subs of SembCorp. Xx Jinx tried to sell the shares of Spfood back to SCI shareholders thru a rights issue. SCI shareholders revolted on the grounds of why should they pay for something they already own.....Xx Jinx thot sharholders were stupid......but this did not work. In the end, Temasick bought Spfood from SCI.
Not so long ago, before the oil rig boom, Temasick made a GO for SembMar for $1.10.......intending to take it private.......This exercise failed cos shareholders saw the value of SM.
4 years ago, Temasick made a GO for NOL at 2.80......increasing their stake from about 28% to 68%.....today, NOL is trading at 1.10.

Wah Tycoon buying up most of the office landbank space at half price in singapore... Rich still rule man... buying at 50% of NTA..
Meaning most of the valuation office space in shenton at market price @ 50% discount for him... Privatisation of UIC and sell to the market at lower still make fat fat money
How not to make money for the rich with the current depress property counters., trading at 60% below book value.. Buy up the company and delist it.. I think more of such deal will come..
elf,
No big deal lah...this is a DUD.

Those who's bullish on the pending announcement, there's still Haw Paw around which is also belongs to WCY. Hmm.. suspect have something to do with the Philipine Tycoon GWS.
UOL also halted trading this morning. must be related corporate actions announcement by these 3 companies owned by WCY

GO announcement?
Controlled accumulation. yup, noticed a spike in volume recently but price crawled up only slowly. Gokongwei has now crossed the 35% mark with MS 12%.
Volumn building up for this counter. Is something going on?
