in fact i had some of these activities even when i was working (by the way, I'm actually not that old... haha), i guess may be is the "loss of status", no more authority as compared to working life.

retirement -- boring? hearsay others may even find it depressing. think need not be so; i've seen other active & busy retirees.
considering these:
exercise -- very important as health problems can wipe out much savings/limit mobility
be young at heart
explore new networks and make new friends (e.g. exercise in group; line dancing; chitchat)
learn new skills/gain a hobby/keep your mind alert (e.g. learn calligraphy, gardening, cooking & mah jong)
discover your interests and make a difference (e.g. be active in politics/community/social groups/teach/extend a helping hand/smile)
don't forget to appreciate your loved ones...also, try to help out w/ shopping/cooking/cleaning.

it is because retirees have nO mOney tO retire
sO retirees spend all their TiME lOOking for mOney and have nO TiME tO retire.
their CPF and banks savings had been earning interests belOw iNflatiOn ratEs and belOw cOst Of CAPITAL.
retirees became pOOrer by the years because of lOw interest ratEs.
This is the NEW ECONOMIC SLAVERY Tsunami on RETIREES

The other side is always greener. In the end, my conclusion is anywhere on earth is just temporary, not my home forever. We are just transiting only. |

A cheaper alternative would be to rent a plot of land in Lim Chu Kang lor. Or even cheaper.......go work in a farm in Lim Chu Kang for...say 1 week. Perhaps that helps to update your equation variable in your existing model ??

I thought of migrating to either Canada / Australia. Staying by the Countryside, spend my time growing some crops & veggies, fishing by the river and trekking in the greenery forest.
The air is so fresh and life is so peaceful.......Sound too good to be true.. Hehe... |

Great question and good to hear you managed to semi-retire early. Serves to remind me why i spend so much time poring over my investments every week. Some things I'd like to do when I retire: 1. Catalogue my DVD collection (which is numbering about 500+ at the mo) 2. Travel to Anfield at least twice a year. 3. Travel to attend a football World Cup tournament instead of relying on toothpicks to keep awake for the telecasts. 4. Improve my golf. 5. Finally be able to spend more time on this forum chatting with the posters and bitching about lousy companies together. Cheers

Retirement is not to retire and do nothing...
It is retirement from having to slog to survive living but without having time to do what you really like to do...
To catch up on all the things you need to do to be really happy.
In other words, retirement enables you to do the 1,000,001 things you had wanted to do but couldn't...
But few can retire...
Yes, me too. Do what u want to do and fill your life with joy and happiness.
Need not have to be rich and travel everywhere but MUST be Happy and ENJOY what u r doing
