That is easy to find out..

Just talk to all your friends and collagues ...

If you mention the word "stocks" to them,

And 10 out of 10 start shivering in their pants,

Then that is the time to buy.

But in all probabilty,

at that time you will also be shivering so much that you will not dare to buy... Smiley

Many traders here may feel frustrated because genting sp doesn't fall much during the big downturn of share market but I have to say this counter really done very well, a special gem in STI.

hey ipunter ,

do u usually follow the trend or predict the trend??

example if we  see a bullish trend in making, do we jump in , or do we wait for confimation to ride with the trend.

Many theory books will ask to wait for confimation.

But many times upon the confirmation, it's too late, we might end up chasing the stock where the big shark is unloading.

kam siah!!!

No worry, drop is due to the market trend but this is one of major index share in KLSE, good and strong enough.

in. Left to be seen.

Mother sometimes cry because she too happy, hahaha.  Jokes aside, better relationship between the 2 neighbours means more communication, more visitations, more spending, and more gambling in GM because its free for Sporeans.  Now two way traffic possible.  Msians come to Sentosa to play and gamble, and Spreans go to GM to gamble. The economic  benefits spin offs cannot be ruled out.  JMO hahaha..

True, especially for short-term trader.  For long term trader, some may prefer STI, that's because we can't find the real value of the share if it keeps go up and down randomly despite the growth of the company and the dividend can be very low as well in those share market.  This is very obvious in China share market, you can't even know what is the exact value of some share counters...  So every individual trader shall choose the counter and share market that fit individual needs!

The money is always stuck because the stocks seldom move if you are holding fast to it. The harder you hold, the more stubborn the price.  This is what is being experienced by many.  I also think oversea stock markets are likely to give you more returns, because they are more dynamic and volatile.  As an investor, you need dynamism in the shares you invested, that means, liquidity and price movements following the prospects of the company. No liquidity means your money will get stuck even with a good fundamental company.  As a trader, day or short term trading, you need volatility, up and down moves for you to play to win or to lose per your judgement.  Without volatility your trades are always losing in commission and small price loss.  This is what is happening with our Sg market.  It is not a hidden knowledge amongst many people who play and invest in shares. JMO.

Frankly speaking, it is hard to earn quick money in SGX due to the strict regulations in Singapore.  However, for capital protection and long term investment, it may be a good choice.  However, for those who like to earn quick money in very short period of time, some share market in overseas may be a better choice.

Laulan      ( Date: 25-May-2010 11:50) Posted:

Honestly, STI shares hard to play to make good money.  "Good money" is the emphasis. You may make pittance sometimes, but you are   more likely to shrink your money pool (capital)  than increase it..Learn it from experience and from grapevines..Investing in STI stocks is a bad risk.  Just do a bit of trading if you have too much free time and cash, but don't really fall in love with it .

sinetic8      ( Date: 25-May-2010 11:37) Posted:

90% of the sgx shares are dropping with only genting is the exceptional as of now 11.37am. with such volatility and exceptional gains, i still prefer to sit by side line and observe. safer for me.

Cheers!
