And betting is the life-blood of the stock markets everywhere...

If you don't bet, how can you gain anything?... Smiley

That is easy to agree with...

and many will readily agree with speed...

But the question is...

How can you be so sure this is already the worst price?

Thus, it is at best just another bet... Smiley

That's why the thinking and earning return between analyst and businessman are always different.  Did anyone buy any shares yesterday?  Well, it is scary to buy shares during the worst time but if you buy any good shares during the worst time with the worst price, any other days may be a good day with good price Smiley

It is not unusual if one considers just the fundamentals...

Because fundamentals is largely a subjective thing in that it is but largely opinions of people.

Thus, people can buy with the perception, and thus firm conviction, that potential earnings, will be great...

Or they can sell if they perceive otherwise.

But for the purer technical analysts, it is a real challenge to decipher this stocks behaviour... Smiley

"" Universal share trading nobody is perfect.

1. Even when you cut loss, is it too early or too late.

2. When you take profit, it could be premature or let

     your profit roll.

3. Not to enter a trade, you will regret when the mkt move up.

(why don't I buy this counter, could have make some money)

4. It all boils down to TIMING, TIMING, TIMING.""

Stock trading is such a unique challenge in life! Smiley

This is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

Only GOD Know.

Always believe in yourself and only you to praise yourself or kick yourself. So you decide on the TIMING.

YES, Nobody, I repeat Nobody is PERFECT.

He who knows when to keep his mouth shut will not get himself in trouble.

Like the fish, if it knows when not to open its mouth, it will not ended in this situation.

So in stock, if you (Can) know when to cut loss, take profit and even not to enter a trade you will not end up in trouble.

Much will depend on the world situation...

A good warning was given when the Dubai problem was made known...

Yet people are still not afraid, and the stock markets still  "Cheong Aarrrhhh!,

thinking Dubai is not our business...

Then we have Thailand problems, volcanic ashes and many other calamities...

But the local market in fact has already started its downtrend since the Dubai news...

No one can predict a downtrend, but a downtrend can be seen in the chart with hindsight.. Smiley

Hi freshmind,I totally agreed with your view that every downturn is an opportunity and never play contra. To me,it's always to buy shares during a downturn with $$ that can be put aside for at least a period of time till mkt bounce back.Smiley

Every downturn is an opportunity, important is to pick good shares and never play contra, treat it as long term investment if is necessary.  No gut no gain.  If the share price fall after we bought, the fact is share price always fall after we bought, regardless market is good or bad.  Cheers and stay cool Smiley

Being human, I will also be shivering in my pants...

Only the big boys (funds) know when to buy...

We not being big boys, can only teekam teekam at our own risk...  Smiley

But as long as we know when to dump, and dump fast, things should be fine...

That is easy to find out..

Just talk to all your friends and collagues ...

If you mention the word "stocks" to them,

And 10 out of 10 start shivering in their pants,

Then that is the time to buy.

But in all probabilty,

at that time you will also be shivering so much that you will not dare to buy... Smiley
