BEST abalone is from JAPAN and has only the DRIED type to ENHANCE FRAGRANCE of its ORIGINAL TASTE.
Abalone canned in saline will loose its original flavour.
LIVE abalone from Australia has pale taste.
Is it not enough money to buy?

Ha ha, yrs ago, AK brought Wheel brand abalone, made in Maxico, back to kampong, but no one appreciate it. Hence, fr then on, I never buy it again for dishes. But some may like it loh. Cheers.
I would recommend you to try New Moon Australia Abalone FF1 140~160g. E 2014
It is actually quite crunchy and feel like chewing abit like pickles. Of course, it do not taste like pickles......so please don't buy the 55cts pickles per can as an alternative to abalone. I love pickles too BTW....

Des Khor! U 35 yrs old?! So young ah?! When I was 35, my rite hand got Cheena Mei Mei & Left hand got S'pore Mei Mei.
Now me gg 2 reach 64 aft CNY. Cheena Mei Mei & S'pore Mei Mei oredi left me many many yrs liao. & my rite hand & left hand r holding paper loss shares... : (
Ya lo... why we still pay premium for the preserved can seafood rather than fresh one ?? Is it because of we are Chinese want face ??

hee...is this your CNY posting?
it can taste rubbery if overcooked (very easily).... once, it tasted really weird; the host thought it could be the brand.
but i agree w/ u, i rather spend the money on other fresh seafood...unless i am desperately out of gift-giving ideas.
btw, welcome any local gift ideas (e.g. hyperlinks, eshops, etc) to mail to overseas friends. No florists, please!
