(JALS.Y 0.52, -0.03, -4.59%) will file for bankruptcy protection at the Tokyo District Court at 5:00 pm Tokyo time (3 a.m. U.S. Eastern time) Tuesday, Dow Jones Newswires reported, citing people familiar with the situation. The airline's shares will be delisted from the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and 15,700 jobs will be cut over three years along with about a quarter of JAL's group companies, the unnamed sources said. Also, 17 loss-making international routes and 17 domestic routes will be eliminated. On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, JAL shares were down 20% at 4 yen (4.1 U.S. cents) ahead of the filing.
