Total production cost of crude oil varies from one producer to another on the range of about USD 5 to 10/Barrel only.
baseerahmed ( Date: 04-Dec-2008 23:28) Posted:
... i remember reading somewhere (reliable newsagency ,can't recall the name , not conspiracy type news ) sometimes back , the breakeven for crude oil production is just US$18 ...so.. anything above this is solid profit ..... so i don't think it will go down to US$7 .....
so ... they have already made a pile by pushing it up to USD150 + ..... maybe the extra-ordinary profits were legitimately for future exploration or infrastructure ....or to counter this current financial turmoil before spilling the beans ....

Conventional invest in Blue chip methodology in the past will not be valid anymore!!! The era is change now, all blue chip subjected the most to severely heavy deleveraging and credit crunch effect rather than other small caps or penny shares!!! I myself start switching several blue chip of my holding to selective small and penny shares. It is hard to believe now, large cap or blue chips subjected to more share price downward risk!!!

It is a mad mad capital market now!!! To be safe I just buy stocks with super low justifiable PTB ratio, to find its real bargain value. (Share value is self protected towards downward price risk and at the same time potential at its upward capital gain reward in the future) This methodology for share picking is only valid and applicable for this unprecedented bad capital market!!!

All blue chip will be in downward trend to find its justified to each PTB ratio of some figure <0.88, in this unprecedented financial turmoil capital market era. I keep selective buying to stock with PTB reaching <0.7 for blue chip and large capital share, <0.55 for mid. cap. share, <0.45 for small cap share and <0.30 for penny share, also <0.2 for underperform yet recovering penny shares!!!
sthh1026 ( Date: 04-Dec-2008 17:45) Posted:
Anyone notice this? Doesn't seem regular. I notice that there was a large selldown of quite a lot of blue chip counters during the last moment of trading. (Or is it the post-trading hour) at prices below their current asking value. |

Crude oil is no longer uptrend! Keep downward trend for future movement! Non Opec member and some Opec member are chasing for sale volume rather then profit margin now. So I won't be surprised if price can go as low as USD 7 /barrel in the long run!!! (Just personal view)
Centaur ( Date: 03-Dec-2008 17:19) Posted:
Think OPEC has mentioned that they will be cutting oil production in the next meeting and is inviting the non-OPEC members to cut production as well. How much production is cut and how many non-OPEC members join them will def have an impact on the oil price.
Demand for oil cannot just disappear overnight but on the other hand, the supply could fall drastically after an OPEC meeting. Before one thinks that oil price can keep falling, all these macro-environment and political factors have to be taken into account. |

Please be noted, in this unprecedented financial crunch plus heavy deleveraging various asset on going process through capital market. Hence, conventional TA even FA are not valid anymore as our analysis tool, as we know market's sentiment governs the market price movement, so the only reliable measurement tool to minimize downward risk is looking to its individual PTB ratio!!! PTB ratio plays most important role now!!!

heya,
just a general note to all:
those using wave, elliot and fibonacci should take note that the initial parameters for use include having a
1) large enough sample size,
2) such that movement is approaching random.
mathematically, it's about a large enough sample size such that behaviour is mathematically natural.
ours is a closed market--very easy to control it up or down, relative for the BBs. ie, the STI does not fulfil the initial parameter requirements for use of tools like fibo etc, since ours isn't a natural number movement. esp at this period of time: the total vol is only 1 bil usually. cf to previous bull run, where regular vol was 4bil and even higher.
which is why tech use has to be different.
so cashiertan, my guess is that likely your feel for the other two markets is better, because their sample size is large enough such that overall movement approaches random: ie, TA like fib is more accurate for these markets.
above is just my 2 cents ultra-geek opinion. lol.
they'll bail out the auto makers, one way or another. it's just wayang now.
cashiertan ( Date: 04-Dec-2008 05:02) Posted:
dunnoe why but i find i am not as suceesful trading STI as compared to US index and HSI. I feel better for the latter two countries indexes. However, the TA part u mentioned abt the consolidating move for upward movement is not 100% correct. Consolidation yes but consolidation for upward move is debatable. there are many charts with such signs but still break downwards. However, from US point of view. the market is anticipating congress to approve loan to the Big 3 Auto and hence the recent two days rally.

Don't trade, attend any investment tutorial, just buy and hold, since average share prices value deleveraging and deflating process has technically coming to an end already. Now inflating of global stock value is in process!!!
