However, the logic is there.

Bloomberg today reported that Singapore May Devalue Currency by 4%.  It is a rumour again but it is in A1 column.  And MAS has not made any announcement.

Why blame it on the police...

He wants to invest, he takes the risk, he earns big money, his capabilities.

He wants to invest, he takes the risk, he ends up bankrupt, he blames the police, blames his wife, blames his mother, blames his grandmother, why dont go and blame the cockroach in the house???

S -chips under greater scrutiny
Auditors are focusing more attention on risky areas, such as cash flow
By Yang Huiwen
AUDITORS have raised red flags over nearly half a dozen S-chips in just the past week alone, as they step up checks on companies. And with the financial crisis still raging, analysts expect even more such cases to come to light.

In the past few days, the auditors of China EnerSave, Sino-Environment Technology Group, Celestial NutriFoods and Ocean International have all raised doubts in audit reports over the capacity of these businesses to continue operations.

RELATED LINKS
Another China company listed here, China Sun Bio-chem Technology Group Company, even had its shares suspended from trading after its auditors questioned the existence of certain debtors in the firm's books.

It joined the likes of FerroChina, China Printing & Dyeing, Beauty China, Oriental Century and FibreChem Technologies in having their shares suspended.

Auditors are doing more checks on companies' books as they rush to complete their audit reports for companies with a Dec 31 year-end.

'The credit crunch and economic downturn have prompted the various parties to be extra vigilant,' said the vice-president of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore, Dr Ernest Kan.

That is not to say that they have not been doing their work, added Dr Kan.

But the financial crisis and the recent reminders by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority and Singapore Exchange have resulted in auditors focusing more attention on risky areas.

For example, auditors are now asking companies to do a cash flow and profit forecast for the year so that the auditors can assess their future prospects and see if the firms have enough funding coming in.

This is usually not necessary in good times as cash flow is taken for granted, said Dr Kan.

No doubt about it !! China will play a leading role in the world and especially asia. My grandpa talk about it, my father talk about.

But, with almost one china company imploded  on a weekly basis, be it whatever type of investor.  Will be of great concern.

I also have two S stocks with me and lucky me have not imploded.  Will it be tomorrow ??

It seems CAD and SGX and MAS had their hand tied !!!!

If anyone thinks that the last few session rally was the turning point for the downtrend, think again. With the detrimental numbers in the jobs arena, manufacturing numbers as well as personal spending and income, and most important properties sections in USA, why are people so optimistic that this is the time now!

I definitely do not wish to be one throwing cold blanket, but I see STI to visit 1,200 - 1,300 before any serious turning around will happen....Just my view!

STI tracks DOW index..

Friday Preview: Bulls Could Rule for a Couple More Days

Bulls could rule Wall Street for another couple of days.

stock market, cnbc business news
Stocks rallied broadly Thursday after the Treasury's 7-year note auction delivered much improved results after the disappointing 5-year auction Wednesday. Morgan Stanley interest rate strategists, in a note, said the positive results take the fear of a failed auction off the table. The concern of oversupply spooked the Treasury market Wednesday.

The Dow finished up 174, or 2.3 percent at 7924, but the standout was the Nasdaq, now positive for the year with a 0.63 percent gain. Fired up by tech, the index closed up 3.8 percent at 1587. The S&P 500 was up 18, or 2.3 percent, at 832. The S&P industrial sector was the best performer, up 5 percent, followed by tech, which rose 4 percent.

Traders say the stock market's recent rally has had its life extended by end-of-quarter window dressing, as big investors increase their exposure to stocks. Many think the buying interest could fade as March comes to a close. "Let's get the end of the first quarter out of the way. What I want to see is if there is a continued appetite for stocks," said Tim Smalls of Execution LLC. "What I'd love to see is some stability in the market and more buyers coming in. I don't have to see a big rally. I want to see more players involved."

Data due Friday includes personal income for February at 8:30 a.m. and consumer sentiment for March at 9:55 a.m. Smalls said the economic data is important, but since the Administration's bailout plan was announced Monday, it is less important. "I don't think the market is as fearful of these things now as they were two weeks ago. You had no net under the high wire a couple of weeks ago," he said.

President Obama Friday hosts a midday meeting with the heads of the biggest banks. Obama's meeting comes a day after Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner unveiled a sweeping regulatory plan that would bring hedge funds and derivatives trading under much closer government supervision, among other moves.

Geithner unveiled the plan before the House Financial Services Committee. ""The market is rewarding the Administration for giving them answers...That hearing with Geithner was more like a lovefest. What a far cry from last week. There were no tough questions," said Smalls.

The marginal trading lenders almost at the same time reduce and adjust a lot of counters marginable status recently. So a lot of margin call force sale induced to depressed the market unfairly.
