xploration companies can make money, be it that crude oil prices r @ USD20 or 200.. as long as they can cover their capital investment ..

but @ 200 refineries have to pass on the costs to consumers...they are stuck in between, if consumers don't buy..no point having high crude oil prices.. even if u have exploration..what profits goes into exploration comes out from refining..

oil hit $200..business will crumble...economies will crumble... whole world in deep recession.. doubt SPC can fly upwards if that happens..

i've always been emphasising that SPC depends on refining for its profit..high oil prices will squeeze these margins.. despite them having exploration biz..

die hard SPC fans will always think otherwise.. good luck!

0246 GMT [Dow Jones] Singapore Petroleum (S99.SG) heads lower as worries on refining margins continue to overshadow positive impact from high oil price; share down 1.6% at S$6.68. Company gets some benefit from higher oil prices in its upstream E&P business, but refining is biggest driver of profit and there are worries new refining capacity may depress margins. OCBC Investment Research says technical analysis suggests stock could head lower; "the price decline was made on the back of rising volume, indicating there is more downside ahead." Adds share price has broken below short-term uptrend line and 50-, 100-, 200-day moving averages, suggesting price weakness may persist. But says oversold signal from short-term stochastic indicator means there could be a minor pause or rebound before downtrend continues. Tips immediate support at S$6.50, which has been key consolidation level over last 12 months, with subsequent support tipped at S$5.20. Presence of low traded volume today suggests selling interest fairly muted at present, supports view of near-term consolidation with order book showing decent buying interest at S$6.60. (KIG)

Hi folks,

Starting a post on the holdings that I have and will buy along the way, for forumers who wish to track my progress..

Been investing since I was 24 and been thru the sch of hard knocks, i became a more emotionless trader/investor as i graduated thru the ranks by digesting more financial education and eliminating the media hype from my decisions

For those who have tracked, i've taken positions for

1) Singtel (avg 3.7+)
2) IndoAgri (low $2.3s)

both of which have been in the money..i've disposed my jade which i bought @ 7-8c, @ current prices.. nice supernormal profits for pretty quick period of time. will add more along this journey ... and discuss the trends of US markets + local markets in detailed along the way.. :)

Yes moving up!Low of 3.58 to 3.74! Handsome good profit in this kind of env. I bought a few lots at about 3.62. Thanks to all the sifus here for their forums. Maybe will buy somemore later if profit-taking. Safe haven counter... for long term. Can keep. Singtel is going global!! Its presence is almost everywhere now, Aust, Indo, India etc. Will they add some more? Maybe in future... All the way Singtel.
