Emm should be short term investor that u are refering to.

Long term investor have no worry with its current price.

Current price still look ok to vest in fr long term.

Anyway let the monitoring begins................................

We can't talk the stock Up or Down. Let the reality show us the direction.

Cheers.

Don't just buy for the sake buying especially if you are a long term investor.

a) Research on the current state of the container shipping and why do you think the demand for consumer products will grow.

b) Freight rates have slumped due to over-capacity of ships. When ship builders start to fulfill their order books by 2011 and deliver new ships, wouldn't the problem be worsened?

c) Countries like China and India might start to manufacture their own products for domestic consumption or MNCs might start to shift production there. In that case, will the container shipping industry be affected?

d) NOL mentioned that they will be making heavy losses till 1H 2010 minimum. Is this the same for their fellow competitors?

NOL should be on its way to break the $2 mark.

Current economy recovery is helping in pushing its value high UP.

Previous Rights should be able to help NOL to contain any financial problem. This qtr, the result announcement most probably is positive one. Fr this, let see........n monitor.

Hopefully NOL provides path forward fr better revenue in it coming qtr announcement. That will further make its investor more confident.

To be frank at this price, its still quite cheap to get. Remember its record high is above $6.

Alot of people who hasn't enter must be hoping for NOL to drop to around $1 to $1.30 (a rough gauge) to collect. But u think will it happen???

Maybe, only if economy turn bad again. Maybe if stock start to drop when government start to withdraw their financial support. N they are quite possible only when mid year comes. Now the possibility is quite low.

Let keep monitoring................

Cheers.

Same here Bro.

The 1.50 TP by analyst starts to make sense haha!

I think it is over-priced now. If their losses continues to expand, their share price will tank. There are better shipping laggards out there - STX PO and Mercator Lines.

Only vested in Mercator

Thanks for highlighting this point. I was on the verge of accumulating NOL ard 1.80 thinking that it was trading at a huge discount to its peak. However, this misconception is now corrected . :-)

This serves as a lesson for all to do more research before investing our hard earned $$$. At the current price, and with the current state of the Container industry, I think NOL is over-priced (at 1.80)

Genting Singapore rated buy

OCBC Investment Research in a Jan 7 research report says: "Genting Singapore (GS) will partially open its integrated resort from 20 Jan 2010, with the operation of four of its six hotels; we think that the casino and USS should open soon once GS obtains the relevant approvals. Meanwhile, the Casino Regulation Authorities (CRA) of Singapore has laid out some pretty strict rules for junket operators.

"We note that the regime increases the level of oversight expected of the casino operators here, as the regulations leave the onus of maintaining the integrity of junkets to the casino operators. However, the strict regime is not unexpected. The latest developments may seem to be negative for Genting Singapore, but we believe that there should not be any lingering impact as Genting could easily develop its own VIP program, which could also help to improve margins.

"Based on more positive tourism arrival expectations, we have further revised up our estimates for FY10 and this in turn boosts our DCF-based fair value from $1.31 to $1.39. Although the upside from the current share price is under 10%, we believe that the positive sentiment of RWS’ impending opening is likely to see the stock substantially overshoot our fair value. MAINTAIN BUY."

NOL

NOL is another top volume stock that has been spiking steadily this first week of the year.

At S$1.82 as at the close of today’s first half trading session, the leading global container shipping line gained another 7 cents overnight, continuing its 10.3%-surge from S$1.65 at the end of last year.

Deutsche Bank upgraded the stock to “Buy” yesterday, and raised its 12-month target price to S$2.04 per share.

The following key industry catalysts were highlighted:
(1) Demand recovery from restocking in US/Europe
(2) Continued freight rate rises especially after the annual Transpacific contract negotiations in May
(3) Newbuild supply coming in below expectations on the back of order cancellations and delivery delays.

STI last closed at 2,898.

Technical comment: ST Index closed 31 Dec at 2,898 points on a PE premium of 26x. This fundamental valuation is on the Hi side compared to the Dow Jones closing at 10,549 points on a PE premium of 16x; Hang Seng Index closing at 3,277 points on a PE premium of 23x.

However the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed 31 Dec at 3,277 points with an even higher PE premium of 35x.

The immediate range of the ST Index chart should move between the critical support of 2,825 points and the resistance of 3,266 points. ST Index is still on an uptrend.
