thanks CWquah for helping out. :)

yuppers. dividend play strategy: you are buying in for the dividend (CD), you sell XD. the hope is that the fall is less than the dividend payout. And no, it's not an 'automatic' adjustment. there are some counters which do not fall XD either.

A better strategy for good counters actually is this:

1) Buy 1/2 of your intended lots CD. preferably before the run up period. (there tends to be a run up a week or so before the div payout date, usu the px of the div. eg, if dividend is 5c, you'll see px of stock run up before that by more than 5c. you want to get in before the px runs up.).

2) Take the dividend.

3) DCA in at the low XD. the other 1/2 of your funds.

4) Stock goes up to CD px, sell all.

So this way, you lock in dividend returns plus some capital gains.

Note that you can only do the above for good blue chips and FA stocks. and pls pay attention to current climate as well. it is NOT a guarantee that the price will go back up to the CD price.

hope this helps. cheers!

Hi Kawaiiboi,

Semb corp is one of the favourite by Huge fund managers... technically speaking due to its ability to weather the current recession with little financial problem, its investment should consider to be sound. But one must consider the fact that its share price is not free from collective pull out from Funds from overseas which is actively trying to cut losses in order to repay fund investors just like the case in many in SG.. Even if you buy at $2, i would still be brave to say you are not paying too much a premium as the risk of default of this firm is close to zero..

look at  the long list of ka-chiam puteh list of stocks (1 ~ 10 cts) trading on SGX.

SGX might as well delist them, like tat how to be 1st world-class stock exchange when

Singapore aspire to be 1st world country in a 3rd world region, having 1st class Changi airport.

Obviously, it is abnormal, total insanity.

Markets are irrational, tends to overshoot in extremes, tats why there is irrational exuberance in bull mkt & now irrational capitulation in current bear raid.

Just hold tight, mkts will ultimately recover, life is about cycles.

There is bear now, so will there be bull later.

Those Ang Mohs ought to be shot in their ass & hanged for bringing so much misery to the whole world as while as those asshole "analist" with their horrible & often wrong analysis, there are too many of it that their analysis can only be read for fun & not to be relied upon, eg the most recent is the "Ferro-China" analysis.

Remember Warren Buffet said "Greed when there is fear (now), fear when there is greed"

No one can time the market, except perhaps GOD, so just buy & hold, when market recovers, it can also be fast & furious and you may end up chasing after the bull then.
