ah, before i forget yet again. questions i've been meaning to ask but didn't have the time to:

chinkiasu, you seem to fly around a lot, and kinda no fixed pattern of country. are you a pilot or air steward or what? cherry blossoms. hmph. how come i can't go for hols too. meh.

why's ahbear called ahbear, and yongjiu called yongjiu? same question to asterisk too! :)

hm. considering the state of the dow last night, singaporegal gave the best advice already. if your money's already out, switch off, go for a coffee. It's summer holiday time.

keke, ozone2002, you sound like a nickyng. hehe.

mind explaining one thing to me, 'cos i don't fully understand warrants? Like the STI put warrant (can't rem its no): it went up from 21c to 28c, but its net gain is put at 0.035?

so if you buy/sell it like a normal stock, is your profit 7c or 3.5c? i don't fully understand....

ahhhh! the puppy eyed emotion is back!!! ahhhh! keke.

shplayer, da gege, no prob lah. We're all rational investors, so we all know that we're responsible for our own decisions and no one else. Was in a bad mood 'cos of other stuff lah. (try being on call 24/7 for work all the time >~<).

Quite frankly the stock market is the least of my worries... 'cos only FA counters i'm holding now, so backed by solid divvy, i'm still net positive, even excluding locked in profits.... To hold onto good FA counters in a correction is a wise idea, really. The only thing is, you must be sure they are good FA counters. And ok, as apologies for my grumpiness, da gege, your meimei here give you one tip now (everyone else watching? bwahahha):

You're holding STE already. If it should drop to more than divvy yield from its current price, look to buy in. Very, very strong insti buy on this counter even in this week. Not to mention it's in the top 15 earners for the year. ;)

Asterisk: contra don't need $$$ in bank acct, but in this volatile market, i highly suggest you have at least enough to pay up a stop-loss of whatever % you decide your stop-loss is to be?

giantlow, well, it's a loss, but there's a sense of relief it's over, isn't it? :) don't worry, i'm sure you'll do better next time. Just don't go making rash decision anymore ok? good boy. *patpat*

and has anyone noticed that our fellowship thread has lost one star from its rating? perhaps we should steer it back on its journey toward the mountain of profit eh? we're only four star now. weh weh weh. haha.

shplayer. If you can say i've said it all, then, you understood it all already. In which case, why ask for crude blatancy when elegant clarity suffices?

But i'm very tired tonight. of making calls, of work, of life. I'm just a young girl a couple of decades, if not more, younger than you. I've posted more than enough calls already. Perhaps you, in your vast experience, could teach me instead? What do you think of the market now, where is it going?

godpa. Pretty house. And yea, no need two rooms. bunnie and i are more than happy to share. :) house facade looks a little bare tho...when it's all done up, remember to have plants, yea. Grow lovely, lush rambling roses. Make them red and white for me. :)

oh. and belated, but regarding ahbear. male or female i don't really care. as long as it's a bear, it's cute. *hugs!* keke. besides...as investors, we must always be nice to the bears. haha.

keke. billywows, elf is sad tonight. Won't ya be my sunshine boy? meh. then perhaps i can hold ya up as talisman against this ugly world. sigh.

aiyah. so much data, so much info... In the end, it's just one simple thing: if people want the market to go up, it will. If they are scared and wanting a correction, it will. Right now, people are confused. They want, but they also fear. so perhaps expect the dow tonight to vacillate between positive and negative? Perhaps.

k, dow didnt bleed too badly thank goodness. =>sti today likely to have light bleeding only.

do be careful tho 'cos it'll likely be very volatile. if dips below its support and can't get back get ready to run perhaps.

burntbadbad, you can check straits times today for list of profit cos. might help you make decision. good luck. :)

burntbadbad, fully concur with ipunter here. Don't listen to me, or any other so-called 'experts'. The reality's that no one is an expert. Because no one can ever be fully right on the market.

As he said, listen to your own small voice. Not mine nor anyone else, and take full responsibility for whatever you decide to do.

that's all there is to the market, really. it's a very, very harsh place.

k ppl. i was hesitating over whether to post this out or not, since i know right or wrong i'm probably gonna get barbs. so i'll try to phrase it nicely.

watch the dow and europe markets very very closely tonight and tmrw morning. If they haemorrhage, it precipitates a swift outflow of foreign funds from Asia. Because funds need to lock in profits from Asia (which has run up for the last 8 mths esp last 2) in order to cover their shorts in US and Europe.

burntbadbad, no one can tell you what to do, you must make up your own mind whether to sell or hold. And right or wrong decision, you cannot blame anyone. No one here can, or have the right to tell you what to do. And you should never be luan. discard all emotion when dealing with the market. there's no place for sentiments, esp in a trending market.

But if i held those shares you named, then. Of all your counters, i'd hold only china energy. It's the only one with solid fundamentals. But of course, this is my decision, based on what i know. and i'm no one to tell anyone what to do. you must make up your own mind.

k, girl? whatever your choice is, i wish you best of luck. :) just make up your mind, and don't look back. You must be decisive when dealing with the market.

hullo,

burntbadbad, welcome to the fellowship. :) don't worry, we're all learning from each other here. and yea. no one can ever be perfect in calling the market. if we could, we'd be alan greenspan. haha.

the most impt thing perhaps is to see what the market really is, and not what you want to see...

and don't buy on 'tips' and all that...if you don't do FA, at least learn some basic TA. At the most basic level, if i ask you what the stock's company does, and you say, i don't know, the qn then is: why are you buying it?

oh. and stop loss. that's the most impt thing to learn. I'm still practicising it. haha. :) play only with money you can afford to lose.

Do differentiate out your shares tho. punting stocks are for short term. in times of correction you'd unload them like crazy. solid fundamental stocks are for long term. in times of correction you'd buy more.

hope it helps. :)
