not to just put cold water ...

before you  invest on shipping trust, you probably want to understand what shipping trust is.

high dividend was the attraction, but it comes with high or very high risk.

just read on their dividend history.

perhaps you should read what musicwitz posts on fsl

Dear Bro Senior,

Accounting perspective, if the total revenue base on your information is true... then we may see a total dividend of at least > 13% dividend per year. looks kind of tempting but buying a new vessel means pumping $$ into the expense taking up the profit. would this cut back on the profit and dividend distribution?

Sorry, i'm not an accountant just wanna check if there is any affect.

Thanks

hope you are not holding too much.

72/97 is  -25% already.

may be this is a good learning lesson on stock market.

sometime ago, some stocks can become -50% in one day, -70% in one day, or even -100% ( when it is Halt , follow by Suspense for years).

take a deep breath, go back to rethink your method of investing/trading, must learn something and get better procedure next time around

i rather be lucky.. buy at good price ( not necessary lowest) and sell at good price ( not neccessary highest price).

may luck be with those who need it.

yes, it is true, let see how much is dividend you expect from blue chip and reit...

says it is 8%  per year.. however, just go to analyse the price chart over one year!! each counter has a 'volatility price' in the region of some 20% to 50%!!!

so how to talk about trying to get  8% +/- (20 to 50%)??? that is a big reason your expectation on dividend counters investing.. the regular price changes can and WILL wipe up all your goal..  and if you bought at HIGH price you end up with a lot more frustration...

Dividend investing is as tricky as any other investment strategy...

dun be discourage,,, there are money to be made... many counters... just try not to use ONLY ONE technique or only one indicator such as Yield , PE, NAV, etc...

Tks operation pesh, i think you are right. you don't only look at yields but also particular at which one like liquiditly which i am not sure of!

People mentioned to me that i might get my desired yield% on blue chip on price move rather than stting on months just for their divdend!

How truth is it?

Also alligator opinion fit the same? Tks

reit was supposed to be high yield and consistent yield

however, during 2007-2008 financial crisis, the real meaning of high yield is fully tested

the reit manager might be running very high leverage on their capital. during crisis there is a big issue on securing loan to continue running the operation, reit's asset also get whacked down during bad time, you just need to check their price chart over 2007-2009 and can understand how "VOLATILE' it is on their price when compared with blue chips.

this is not to discourage you, but you need to check out risk/reward and history.

hope it helps

Value is the dollar values of all transaction

example, shares only had 2 transaction.

1. 10000 shares transacted at 1 dollar, so value is 10000 dollar

2. another 10000 shares transacted at 1.1 dollar, so value is 11000 dollar

total volume is 20000, total VALUE is 10000+11000 = 21000.

yalor, so often to see:

1. Cheap could become cheaper

2. Expensive could become even more expensive

3. cannot just decide based on ONE indicators like  just PE, just DPU/yield, just NAV, etc,  some cheongsters had PE way about market average!! some stayed at single digit for as long as i remembered

so,, entry price and exit price do matter.

this is second time after the 'old good days of surging from low of 32cent to 60's"

then all their assurance of DPU, dividend policy of paying BASE level was suddenly reversed by they bomb announcement  in Aug2009 . so how the market react?? whacked 20% in that day.

this time around, auditor put in business concern !!

what market does? many investors who risk their money parking here would re think if their risk of parking money here with DPU of some 8%-10% was justified... that was when price is in high 30's to low 40's.

i remember old time OCBC analyst, who had been always on negative for this shares, put TP of something like 16.5cent ( just pluck from memory , sorry of wrong).

so it is a lesson for interest parties to re think they strategy of parking on this ship for DPU, especially when acquired at higher price..

today VERY HIGH vol sell down is bad on all TA signals.. FA was not good either.  may be some analysts will make some more reports later to add salt on the wound also... so be careful..
