Went up to 3.68 last night. recovering to $4?? any experts view whether it will slides deep down again? still a newbie to trading and wish to learn more from you guys. |

I was watching a documentary that talked about how the govt could nationalise the bank, get rid of the bad management, care less about the shareholders but protect the customers etc, start off on a clean slate etc. the fact is as outsiders we don't know how bad the situation is, especially when C had to sell off one of its lucrative assets Smith Barney to JP Morgan (?) , even after the bailout. Also not sure to what extent the new Obama administration (and the american public) can continue/ tolerate bailing out private corporations at the expense of the public (taxpayers). | ||||

Nationalise citi will not be that good for shareholders ultimately. But as you mention, US gov would not let big banks goes down bec they knew they make a mistake with lehman bros...

I think its too big to fail... At this point of time, savings jobs and the financial system is utmost important.... If citi fails, it will also trigger counterparty risk which can cause worldwide markets to breakdown even further.. just like lehman bros...
If citi can't survive, US govt will pump in $$ and nationalise the bank just like AIG and Fannie Mae...

Also invested here @ $4 with 500 shares only! test water. If they fall below $3 then will avg down again with another 500 shares. |

i'm not an expert ... but just making some wildest guesses ... with many Titans involved with the bank , like Prince AlWaleed etc ...after the lessons of slaughter of Lehman Brothers... and being a global instuition with far reaches... maybe won't go under .... BUT ...then it's just my wildest guess .... anything might happen !! caveat emptor ! |

Can Citi go bankrupt even after re-structuring ? I'm not sure to what extent this restructuring can insulate them from the toxic liabilities they hold, e.g. in case they become insolvent...afterall, some very well-respected financial institutions have collapsed over the last year without any warning....any experts care to comment... |
