Yes, of cause it makes sense. Variable bonus depends on the performance of the company whereas fixed salary does not. By setting $1 base pay for entire yr, this shows the CEO's determination to make the company perform, because if he does not turn the company profitable, he'll be stuck with the $1. This essentially aligns the CEO's interests with the company & essentially eliminates any conflict of interests.

Singapore's civil servants and ministers on the other hand only reduces their base pay, which means that even if they are not able to make the company profitable, they 'll still get the same fixed pay, so there's no strong motivation/determination.

some may call this type of ppl ball carrier, i would say he has exceeded ball carrying. if u ask him to lick ur toes, he will !

if he see there is things to benefit from. 

just like some of those characters we see in the drama hanging ard their boss..

AIG CEO cut his own pay to $1.00.....this eally makes an impact on the concept of leadership........

In Spore, pay cut of top civil servants and ministers of 11-19%, after increases of  20-40% earlier,  still net pay increase......sounds magnanamous....but who they kidding?

from my past experience and observation, as long as the govt is okay and country is not chaotic, sad to say, is that the 90/10 will always apply which means 90 ppl will work for 10 person. No matter what govt system or ideals, as long we are humans, the 90/10 rule will apply. and this top 10 ppl will end up work for 1 person.

so i can say is that making money is easy for those who can have  it. some ppl no matter how u scold, teach and guide will end up just as ebooks salesman etc.. 

Majority wil not make as much as they wanted to have but nevertheless the key question i like to ask is whether have you tried to make as much as you can have?

some say i make alot but i see ppl who make even more than me. yeah one moutain still have another higher moutain. comapring and envy other is pointless. Making the max out of yourself is the way.

From the share forum,i can see many ppl can make it rich...Yourself,cashiertan,ipunter,elffin,basseerahmed,shplayer, sporegal and the list goes on .Even jackjames make US100k just by selling his flat....so easy to make $$$ in spore.

In 2000, there was a new scheme that making use of accumulated pension gratuity for investment.

The gratuity will increase according to yrly investment returns. However, if the investment is negative, then the overall sum will degreae accodingly. If AK not mistaken, in 2001, the investment return then was -21%. fr then on till 2006, yrly return could hardly see more than 3%.

Henceforth, if I dun choose the scheme and go for normal pension scheme, I will get the normal

pension entitlement and not 80k less, owing to the investment deficit.
