Another desperate move by JNJ to counter newer DES competitors. When you try to educate the patients too much, they will be more knowledgeable instead of blindly listening to their doctor on which prefered brand of DES to use. So many patients have been conned by their doctors and hopefully the patients do their own research and soon they will realise Biosensor's Biomatrix has the best proven clinical trial performance with zero blood clot issues. I think they should either spend more money on R&D or buying up the best available technology. Paper cannot wrap fire for long. A lousy DES will still be a lousy DES. Talk about being desperate to turn things around. Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) has started direct-to-consumer advertising for its drug-eluting stent, Cypher.
Now, having little computer-generated moths selling Sepracor's (Nasdaq: SEPR) Lunesta sleeping aid, or Rafael Palmeiro hawking Pfizer's (NYSE: PFE) Viagra ... those I can understand. Those drugs offer assistance with health problems about which people might start up a conversation with their doctor. But I have a hard time imagining patients sitting in a cardiologist's office wanting to discuss a commercial about a stent-focused television spot they saw during last Sunday's football game. Heart surgery seems like something most consumers would defer to their doctors about. After seeing the stent market deflate considerably over safety concerns, J&J has fought back with data suggesting that its stents are safe. The marketing campaign aims in part to relieve patients' concerns and sway them from choosing alternative options -- bypass surgery, bare-metal stents, or drug therapy, for example -- to treat their heart condition. The real reason for the new campaign is probably that J&J and Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) are likely to get additional competition in 2008. It appears that the FDA will approve both Medtronic's (NYSE: MDT) Endeavor and Abbott Laboratories' (NYSE: ABT) Xience V in the coming months. Suddenly, branding becomes much more important than it was when there were just two players. Not that I don't think that J&J and Boston Scientific should be advertising. They should be -- heavily, in fact. But they should be spending the money, as they have in the past, on advertising to doctors. They'll get much more bang for their buck that way, compared with advertising stents directly to consumers. |

True. I have learnt so much from you guys. Thanks so much. Let's really hope for the CE mark. I now understand the potential after re-reading the earlier postings. With the patent on Biolimus A9 and the several tie-ups with xtent and terumo and now China and today the completion of the purchase in Indonesia, this is a very very POTENTIAL company the moment the CE Mark on Biomatrix is granted. You guys are truly good. |

The lock-up period for 5 million shares as purchase consideration of PT Fondaco will be 12 months. No pledging and other form of share transfer is allowed. Previously i said the lock-up will be at least for 6 months. Some shortie here said the ex-owner of PT Fondaco will dump the 5 million BIG shares immediately after the deal to create fear among fellow forumers again. |

I think have to wait until 23/06/08 then they will take average price of last 5 days' closing to see whether its in-the-money or out-of-money. If in-the-money (above 85cts), DB will pay you the price difference. If out-of-money (below 85cts) DB pay you nothing. I met the DB analyst Pyari Menon and his TP was $1.40 just a few months back. Since DB price it at 27.5cts with strike at 85cts, then DB is betting with you at $1.125 at 23/06/08 when they issued the warrants. Of course DB can start using the 20,000 lots X 0.275cts = $5.5m money they received on the warrant issue to start moping up BIG's shares cheap. Maybe they have even mopped up BIG's shares at below 70cts and already holding 8,000 lots ($5.5m) of free BIG shares sponsored by the warrant buyers??? Its all abt managing the risk, position and market price manipulation for the warrant issuer and most of the time the issuer will make money. |

I think this is European style warrant, so you can only exercise at expiry. But you can sell off the warrant anytime when the the price is in your favour. |

This is a call warrant, so those buying this warrant are generally bullish in the mother share in short term. Most people buy warrant because of the leverage effect of warrant, eg 1% move in mother share may lead to a 10% move in warrant price. Also most people dont hold the warrant till expiry. Because of the leverage effect, warrant holder can sell off the warrant for a good profit when there is some movement (say 5%) in the mother share. DB may have accumulate enough BIG shares below 0.85. When the warrant expired in-the-money, DB will be able to deliver BIG shares to those who exercise the warrant. |

Thanks i wasnt going to buy the warrants. I was just puzzled why the .85cts was touted as the target price by everyone . To me DB would be hedging by buying mother share now and meanwhile collect the issue price of .275( just checked it up). To me they would have factored the possibility of this share going beyond $1.125. Can I check if this strike price means if BEFORE June 2008 , at anytime if the closing price is above .85, the whole exercise is struck out? Which means DB is not going to lose out???? In fact it shows confidence that the share will be above .85 before June 2008?? |

well said bengster, yup, warrants are usually for hedging or speculation. Seldom do pp buy them as investments. If you are unsure how it works, then all the more you shouldn't buy it. Buy the mother shares is good enough if you are confident about its prospect. Besides, warrants are subject to 'time decay', losing more of its value as it gets closer to expiry. Then you might need the price to be more than $1.20 to breakeven !!! |

Don't bother to buy the warrant. If price of warrant at 35cts with strike price of 85cts at 23/06/08, that means you are betting share price at $1.20 on 23/06/08 to breakeven. However, if you buy the mother share now at 76.5cts, by 23/06/08 if the share price is $1.20, you make 43.5cts <more than 50% return>. If the share price is $1 on 23/06/08, you will lose (35cts+85cts-100cts)=20cts from your warrant investment but make (100cts-76.5cts)=23.5cts <30% return> if you buy the mother shares now. Fock the warrants!!! |

Sorry I am very new to this market but I read all your postings very carefully. If the warrants have a strike price of .85cts in june 2008, but in order to get the warrants at this strike price , we need to pay .35 cts right? So the targeted price DB is looking at should be $1.20?sorry very blur |
