thanks all for the clarification. i shorted on 21/07/2011, so that means they will take the buy in price on 22/07/2011 or 23/07/2011?

first.sgx will buy in at T+2. the buy in price will be T+1 price + 2 bid higher or T+2 lunch closing.price. they will always take the higher price. if sgx fail to buy in that afternoon u will then be fine. however for tigerair theres alot of script so buyin should be ok

okay.. this is what happens.. at the end of T2 or T3, where you're suppose to hand over the scrips... if u fail to, they will start the next day by trying to buy from the inhouse market (this is not the open market that we see)... at 2 bids higher than what  market is  trading at that point of time or the average of market price range.  and they will increase the bids up and keep trying until end of that trading day. At end of that trading day, if they can't get it, they'll buy from the actual market the following day. If they resorted to the actual market, the fine kicks in.... you can appeal against the fine. take note the buy in by SGX charges higher transaction costs. |

By right, they can fine you, but you can write in saying you first time and did this by accident.

Then ask him to help you to come up with a solution lah. What's the point of having a broker when he can't help you solve problems and only know how to collect commission. If he's unable to help, it's either he's unwilling to help or his position is too small get the brokerage house to help. Either way, you should change your broker.

You got 3 to 5 working days, the contra period, to get this done. Once this gets to SGX after the contra period, SGX will fine you. So, you must get your broker to get this done ASAP. As long as this is still within your brokerage house control, they should be able and want to help you because they won't want to loss you as a client.

you can try to write in for first-timer. They usually wont fine you $1000. As for the gain/loss...they will buy at 2 bid higher and whatever gain loss you will have to bear.
