Livermore, you really sound like a true practitioner of Livermore. May I ask you, in your own opinion, how close are you to the real Livermore in stock trading. 65%, 80%, 95% etc? |

Hi all, Elf: Thank for the Green badge. I enjoy New Zealand, esp the Milford Track, the finest walk in the world, well, minus the mozzies. Btw, is it a good idea to take profit now with rumours of bubbles bursting any time now? Would correction be occurring across the board instantly or slower pace? Based on past experience, any comments? |

Hi folks, Yesterday's Sunday Times feature on Undergrad Tan Boon Long's virtual money trading from $125,000.00 to $723 million in 3 weeks was very interesting. If 25 of us would like to cough out $5,000.00 each (and write off the money on the spot) and request him to trade for us using the same method and share the profit equally, would he do it? Can someone organize this and approach him. Count me in as a member. |

Hi Chinkiasu & Gaintlow, You are welcome:). My method is not "cheam". When you guys mention all those TA jargon, that is more "cheam" to me:). Margin trading has benefitted me. I hope it will benefit you too. But do be careful with this leverage tool. If you use it wrongly and become too greedy and "lose your head", margin trading can "destroy" you...... |

hi Livermore, thanks for the tip (u had also advised me in SPC thread) ... I will try it when I survived this round with SPC... dear elf, when you do make the trip, and if you must see the northern lights, you should go between November and April. (it would be quite cold).. I was in Fairbanks in summer last year and could not see the aurora.... :-( |

btw, godpa, watch st engg very carefully tmrw....markets are volatile, and sentiment's changing very fast. sporeguy is excellent in using fibonacci and wave patterns. if st engg does drop below 3.3 and the buy/sell vols are overwhelmingly sell, then, it's perhaps wise to follow trend. do make your own call tho. :) shplayer....how do i differentiate my godpas now? godpa and godpa2? lemme know how you pref to be addressed. or shall i just stick with shplayer? i like that name. |

Hi Giantlow,
My trading style is I always average up when I buy i.e I buy more as the share price goes up. It seems a strange method to buy a share price at a higher price but there are reasons why I do this :
1. To determine if the stock is indeed on a
uptrend.
2. My earlier lots are at profit and covered so
I have not much fear. If I put all my lots
at one price and the share price drops, I
have no "cover". So always stagger your buys
and never put all your lots at one price. If
the share price goes down, I buy less, but
if it goes up I buy more.
Of course this is not a fool proof method and sometimes you can get "caught". The best time to use this method is when the price is moving up from a consolidation phase. Examples were ASL Marine at 90c and now Noble Group from $1 to $1.10. FerroChina from 70 to 77c.
Sometimes you can get "caught" with this method of averaging up, so to be safe don't average up any more after a certain range but average up when it has gone even higher! Sounds confusing? Let me explain. When FerroChina went to 80c, it is best to buy again when it crosses past 90c. Why? Because the earlier lots bought at 72 - 77c are now way in profit regions and buying at 90c does not give me any risk. I bought Noble Group at $1.22 as I averaged up from $1.08 to $1.22 but now it is $1.19. So if Noble drops to $1.15, I might sell off those lots I bought from $1.08 to $1.14 because those lots I bought at $1.22 will start giving me paper loss.
How to cut loss? I bought some lots of ASL Marine at 90c (consolidation phase). If it had dropped to 85c, I would buy only 5 lots. If it dropped further to 80c, I buy another 5 lots. If it drop below 80c, that's when I GET OUT totally!
So with margin trading, you are able buy more lots as the share price goes up. Most people contra because they are short of cash. With margin trading, you can do exactly what you do with contra except you have a longer period to hold onto the stock compared to contra when you have to sell after three days.

If I may join in......just some comments on the earlier posts. MacRithchie to Bt Timah is approx 13 km (boardwalk on the west fringe, pipeline, Rifle Range Rd, pipeline, cycle trek to foot of BT)....if you carry on with the treks around BT, then it may be about 20 km. Forest canopy over the treks diffuses the tropical heat and is quite pleasant. Bt Timah treks can be very interesting and challenging (South View, Cave Path, Catchment Path, Tuip Tuip - now barricaded but can still go around it; Diary Farm Loop, Seraya Loop, Jungle Fall then down the bitumen road). Another good walk is to circum navigate MacRitchie.....12 - 14 km depending on whether you take the boardwalks. Elf, I remember in another thread you suggested I be your godpa. So, now you have 2 godpas (that I know of) in SJ. he he he. |

elf, if u are feeling lonely, find a Legolas. But if u still prefer human and do not mind losing your mortality, then look for Aragorn and be a queen.:) Recently, many letters to the press said singapore girl is outdated and should be consigned to Jurassic Park. Wonder if it is done, SIA will still be flying high or not? |

hello singaporegal, why so quiet? :) elf would like your opinion on rally or not leh..... hehe godpa, your heart might be easily moved but mine is not. Elves are elves precisely because they're different. hehe. The only moves i make are on the market! keke. chinkiasu. yep. elf loves nature a lot. Cities are glass, steel, pollution and loneliness. Elves get lost in cities. We like the wild places, the grass, the rolling green, the silence of the immensity of space, the changing seas and the rustling stars overhead. All the things that cannot be bought. They're the only things worth anything. :) |

Hi Giantlow, Huh contra and fixed deposit? I don't see the connection. Actually margin trading is useful in another sense in that you don't need to contra and can hold longer if you wish to trade very short term like in contra. You have to be so accurate in contra and I find it risky. Somehow that is still this idea that to have "high returns" one want needs to take high risk. Some friends still think I am a high risk taker and I actually I am a very careful trader. Well just a word of caution that's all... |

Thanks giant for checking it up Re:interest exp. I tot u post somewhere that ur warrant expire early march. So u still have about 3 weeks for something to happen.Maybe a miracle may happen for all u know.Pray hard. In Australia, personal income tax can be 48% for every dollar earn.So if u have tax deductible expense,it can bring it down to 20% for every dollar earn. Maybe in spore the personal income tax rate is low,so it does not really matter? |
