hullo godpa, happy new year and gong xi fa cai to you and your family too! :) angpow, don't worry. you come back in august can still give us. muah haha. :P back to biz: a lot are pessimistic because i think the correction caught many unexpected...i'm perhaps more of a contrarian here, but my instinct is not a broad fall, but a mixed market that rotates. Dif between the two: the STI rise/fall is not indicative of all counters. Since the STI is made up of a basket of certain stocks with different weightage. i.e, the sti could very well fall, but quite a few counters are in the green. Alt, STI can go up, but a lot in the red (as in the days preceding this). If you've noticed, there's been divergence between sesdaq and sti. gainers vs losers are almost even. those are clear indications of rotational play. After CNY is the tail end of the blues rise and the rise of the midcaps. Something is brewing with STE, i can't quite figure out what. there's been steady accumulation on the counter, and its bollies are tight. all signs are for a breakout soon, but its envelope is curving to a slight downtrend? singaporegal...would like your opinion on this act... actually, godpa. look at cdl h trust. ;) |

Hi Elf went back in to buy ST Engg at 3.34 but this time only 20 lots. Funny,reading the SJ many ppl are pessimistic that after CNY the mkt will fall. However the aussie reckon the asx will move from 6000 points to 7000 points by year end.Cos of resource boom here. |

(just realised you bought it from the celestial thread) in the first place, if you're playing IPOs, then standard practice is to sell out on first/second or max 3rd day. it's a punt, nothing else, no matter how good its FA is. in the second place, are you familiar with the history of the company, and the bad blood from investors regarding the takeover of cityaxis? all i can say on a public forum is this: be careful when dealing with indonesian-related companies. Moreover, one of your main holders in placement trade is JF asset mgmt. They're the ones who recently bled longcheer. charting's not possible now since it's too new. but common sense will tell you that this is a counter for shorting, all the way to 1.25. Thereaft you'll see a bouncy bounce pattern when all the cityaxis people cut loss and run at wherever they're comfortable with their loss, because they are certainly not happy holding this baby. long term of course i don't know, but short term (since you strike me as a short term contra player), that's what you're looking at. and don't bother with the reasoning of 'placement institutions having vested interest keeping it above 1.25'. because trust me, right now, they're selling like heck already and pocketing all the profits. sigh. please my dear... be very careful in choosing your trades. elf doesn't want a chao ta bunnie leh. :(((( hope this doesn't spoil your new year....meh. meeeehhhhhhhh. :( |

As you guys know, I average up but I mentioned that averaging up can turn back on you. Instead of making money on ASL Marine, I have about $1200 paper loss:(. When I average up, I still monitor. So I bought some ASL Marine at 90c and some at 93.5c. But when ASL Marine turned down from $1, I started to monitor and sold off 25 lots at 96.5c. Thus staggering my lots has less risk. I never expected ASL Marine to go back to its consolidation price of 90c. But I might not re-enter at 90c and monitor first. But good thing is I sold off 25 lots and now I have those 25 "bullets" to cover my "paper loss" position. If Noble Group had dropped to $1.15, I would have sold off all my Noble lots. I have long term plans for Noble but I still respect the market. Now the big question is Noble going to break through $1.24. |

heya one and all, firstly, thanks to the guys for the flowers. :))) lonely heart shplayer, aw...it's ok, you got an elf now. and a bunnie too! keke. and yea, bunnie's right, are you fine being our elder bro instead? always wanted an older brother.....*please?* ah, pikachu (i'll make you yellow as your namesake)...a brokeback valentine i presume is what a guy gives to another guy. :P weh. so sian. i still need to work tomorrow. taking wednesday off tho. haha. back to biz: market's moving as expected in a rotational play; only thing unexpected is its speed. We've been given an unexpected fillip from china's central authority issuing limits and monetary controls. (incidentally, that's why your china counters are down) Basically, money is trapped in Asia with nowhere else to go since global markets are still soft. And malaysia, thailand, indon, (and now china) are out of the pic. So expect HSI and STI to go up. It'll likely be a blue chips play, since it's foreign funds. Rotation is to be expected since money's kinda stuck here. S'pore stocks are rated at full PE ratio already, but book-to-value ratio is 2.3x, compared with other countries average of 2.7. So there's still some upside to go. If US or oil keeps going up tho, get out of market soon. Follow the global flow. Just to give an idea of direction: we're currently in the start of the third wave, which i kinda expected only after CNY actually. But roughly, it's blue chips up now and pennies down. stage 2 of wave is midcaps up, blues stagnant/down, third stage is pennies up and mids and blues down. We shouldn't be done with stage 1 so soon yet. so post CNY would expect some upside still from the blues. Esp since some have yet to report their results. Can either look to ride the blues wave, or prepare yourself for the midcaps. bunnie...hope this explains why your ausgroup is down and so many counters are in the red... |

shplayer da-gerger, it's not a gd feeling eh to be overseas during celebratory/festive season. even if single, want to drink with frens also cannot. i hate when im overseas and it's festive season. yongjiu, me will be in Better CNY mood too if my company shutdown for tomorrow instead of half-day AND if my ausgroup is making $. damn. only make little bit from celestial. not enough bao angbao for my parents leh. how how how? :p oh, btw, have u guys heard? CPF up 1.5% for employers contribution. market up 60+, yet still so many counters are in the red *sob* my ausgroup!!!! damn. happy new year everyone! :-) |
