FYI.. taken from the EuroPCR programme sheet. Two symposiums on 14th and 15th May covering Biosensors and Terumo. Hopefully there's some good +ve results. Too bad there's no mention about LEADERS trials. But who knows, prelim results may be covered under "Late breaking results" on the 13th ?? Also did not see any representation from JW Medical on CREATE trial.. Are drug-eluting stents using biodegradable technology safer than durable coatings?

The money should be in BIG's bank account now. They will book the profit this quarter (1Q of FY2009). But only 20% of US$40m, which is US$8m. I suspect they need to do it this way for tax planning purposes because more profits will be rolling in after CE approval.

So it may well be a profit earlier than expected as the usd40m is to be taken into account for the next quarter. Oh well, really hope ...... |

US$40m cash profit plus "at least" US$25m profit from China JWMS = US$65m. Already single digit PE stock. There will be more to come.

Ang Moh Richard Elman's Noble Group knows how to sell themselves well to investors. BIG is stupid to talk nonsense immediately after CE approval and make investors think that BIG will lose money in H1 and breakeven or make small money in H2 of FY2009 (which implies that BIG will probably just breakeven at best for the whole of FY2009). When you make such silly low forecast, you will turn off current and potential investors. Even the analysts and instutional funds are turned off. If BIG is way off-track for their FY2009 net profit forecast can the investors sue BIG for misrepresentation in net profit forecast? I seriously think BIG's FY2009 net profit forecast is way off-track. Also, they could have booked the US$40m cash received as Q1 FY2009 net profit. No one can fault them since the money is in their bank account and don't have to recognise it over 5 years. With US$40m profit and earnings of China JWMS, this company is already a single digit PE company. I believe there will be more profits rolling in after BIG's CE approval. The US$40m cash profit is made possible because of CE approval. I always remind investors to look at the business model of BIG very carefully to have a better gauge of what other kind of income streams may be coming in.

Oh like that wrong number liao, we have been blaming the poor PR guy for not doing work. But BIG's PR / investor relation dept also very jialat. You try to email them 10 times for your queries, confirm 10 times no answer. Perfect 10!!! Better come to Sharejunction forum ask questions better.

Its ok PAE, the information was very useful. It shows that Biosensors is still a company to reckon with and this application justifies why their R &D expenditure has gone up . Now if only the share price starts going up........

Sorry, I made a mistake on my earlier claim that 2 patents were awarded.. 24th April 2008 - DRUG-DELIVERY ENDOVASCULAR STENT AND METHOD OF USE 1st May 2008 - Temporal Intraluminal Stent, Methods of Making and Using These two are just US Patent Application "Publications" dates. Normally, patent filings are posted up and given a publication date. So these two are publications dates.. Final awarded patents will have a "patent date" on their front page...instead of "publication date" Probably, explain why BIG did not publicize the patents yet..! |

I think during that Dr Richard Stack's time, there was no idea of drug eluting stent using polymer. The first DES was Cypher (approved in 2003) so the DES idea was probably first mooted approx 5 years earlier than 2003. Dr Richard Stack's biodegradable stent is to fulfill doctors' obsession of the ideal stent. They belief that the best method is to leave no foreign objects in clogged vessel after interventional cardiovascular procedure as the foreign object could be a source of problem in future. Somehow the doctors feel it is the most ideal way just in case patients might need to do heart bypass and leaving no foreign objects behind in the vessel save them future trouble when performing heart bypass operation. DES uses polymer to hold and elute the drug according to optimal release timing for best effect recovery. Without polymer, this drug eluting function and perfect drug eluting timing is not possible. So i think Dr Stack's patent does not cover polymers for drug eluting stents. He was probably thinking on the line of biodegradable BMS or using some other stent materials (other than metal), without drugs. Now BIG also has a new patent (which bro PAE posted recently) on using specially roughed stent metal surface to hold and elute drugs (Biomatrix-Freedom). I have heard of Magnesium biodegradable stent but im not sure if they are DES or just biodegradable BMS. If the magnesium stent is a DES, im not sure whats the technology this stent uses to hold and elute drug. Haven't done much research on this magnesium stent becos the inital results are not fantastic and i thought they are of no threat to Biomatrix. I think Magnesium stents biodegrades way too fast and cannot do the function of propping out the clogged vessel long enough. If i can remember correctly, they start to dissolve after 2 weeks and fully biodegrades after 2 months. I got to read up more on this area first. |

Wah.. you can recognize even the pioneers. :-) Just to clarify .. I know BIG has the famous patent on Metal Stent + Biodegradeable Polymer + limus drug Are you saying that they have one on Biodregradeable Stent + limus drug? If yes, do you know when did they get this patent? |
