x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	DJ MARKET TALK: SPH May Edge Up; 1Q07 Net Profit +14.1% 2007-01-0 [Dow Jones] SPH (T39.SG) may edge up towards year high of S$4.56 after posting 14.1% on year rise in 1Q07 net profit to S$112.3 million due to higher newspaper, magazine revenues, increased property rentals. But local trader says upside will probably be limited "as there was nothing surprising in the results." CEO Alan Chan says "the positive business climate is expected to continue providing support to the Group's print advertisement revenue...with circulation sales expected to remain at sustainable levels while Paragon looks set to continue to generate healthy rental yields on the back of generally bullish sentiments in the property market." Shares closed down 1.3% at S$4.50 yesterday.  (JEM)

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	hughsh, sph no divnd in 1st n 3rd qtrs' results. divnd wud b announced in mar/april  for 1st half n oct/nov for whole year. last fy 1st half divnd was 7 cts (eps 6 cts in 1st qtr) n 17cts for 2nd half, total divnd 24 cts last fy. Since eps now is 7cts this 1st qtr (last year 6 cts), this year's 1st half divnd could be 8 cts n final divnd cud be 20 cts, totalling 28 cts for fy sept '06 to aug "07, barring nothing abnormally unfavourable . btw probable 24 cts does not include possible payout by co to shareholders in respect of thomson's condo.
