  SINGAPORE, Oct 20 (Reuters) - Phillip Securities has upgraded
Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) <NEPS.SI>, the world's fifth largest
container shipping firm, to "buy" from "hold" and raised its
target price to S$2.36 from S$2.06.
    
    STATEMENTS:
    Phillip has raised its earnings estimates for NOL by 52
percent to $384 million for the firm's 2010 financial year and by
57.1 percent to $457 million for 2011, citing better shipping
volumes and rates.
    NOL said its July-September net profit was $282.3 million,
rebounding from a loss a year ago mainly due to a recovery in
cargo volumes and rates. [ID:nSGE69I0GM]
    "We also note that NOL has placed an order for 12 new
container ships that will be delivered in 2013 and 2014. This
shows that NOL is confident on the outlook for the shipping
industry," Phillip said in a report.
    The brokerage cautioned that shipping volumes and rates are
expected to decline slightly in the fourth quarter as they had
reached their peaks in the third quarter.
    However, Phillip said global trade is likely to remain firm
next year and NOL will benefit from higher volumes and rates.
    At 0129 GMT, NOL shares were up 1.9 percent at S$2.10 on a
volume of 9.1 million shares, bucking a 0.7 percent fall in the
Straits Times Index <.FTSTI>.

Well said. Absolutely true for Genting SP, esp after impenting Greece financial crisis was cleared beginning of June ds yr and GSP announcing initial profit fr 3 mil a day to 10mil. So long alrdy, now d daily profit must be fantastic liao. Can gauge once its 3Q result is out. Cheers.

BTW, do not chase heavily after a stock, if its result announcement date is very near. 10 trading days r considered quite near liao, esp for 2H, AK opines that. However, GSP could be an exception loh, still can get wan tan mee one, within d 10 days gap, for 3Q. All above r based on there is no global stock market turbulance.
