Shares of Mapletree Logistics Trust <MAPL.SI> rose as much as 6.8% on Thursday ahead of the trading debut of sister firm Mapletree Industrial Trust <MAPI.SI>.
Mapletree Industrial, which is to make its debut at 2:00 p.m., is managed by Mapletree Investments, a real estate company owned by Singapore state investor Temasek that already manages Mapletree Logistics and Lippo-Mapletree Indonesia Retail Trust <LMRT.SI>.
“Mapletree Industrial is expected to open higher so there is a spillover effect on Mapletree Logistics. They have the same parent, and industrial and logistics property are also quite related,” said a local trader.
Units in Mapletree Industrial Trust, which owns factories and other industrial properties in Singapore, may rise to as much as $0.99 on their first trading day on Thursday, 6.5% higher than the offer price of $0.93, according to the median forecast of five analysts polled by Reuters.
