Ah, in that case, you'll find many people will appreciate something more concrete, rather than a philosophical statement. :) One thing I do agree tho, in a bearish market, not losing is already winning. Defensive stocks are a blessing during downturns. Cheers.

In the end, many will come to realise, at their own cost, what are the really helpful hints... Helpful in the sense that their lives are improved by heeding it... The ultimate goal of playing stocks is to make money... And invariably, more than many will finally realise the truth that "Not losing is already winning"... hehehe... |

First, you must decide what is your objective when you brought the stock? Are you looking for cash flow or long-term capital growth? If you are looking for cash flow, than you must think like a trade... Cut loss and buy a better stock or at a better time. If you are looking for long-term capital growth, than you must think like an investor... Hold and average down later.

Ive lost a lot in warrants last year. Around 50K in one month. Even up to now, just thinking about it makes me feel depressed. Its good my wife supports me and understands. I swore to myself to avoid them or only trade warrants at small amounts. Things I have learned, dont try to guess the bottom or top. I also avoid penny stocks. If you got profit, dont be greedy. The trend is your friend.

Yes, u are right in a sense. It is usually a matter of time before the price come back. However, there is a chance that the company may go bankrupt and you loss all your money. Also, you lose the chance to buy more lots at lower prices as your money is "stuck".

Yes, it is very important to cut loss. But most people after cut loss already, the price shoot up, perhaps because the cut-loss level is not right. What is important is to understand the concept of support/resistance levels, so that we can set reasonable/educated cut loss level. I thus strongly encourage new players to learn FA/TA for up-grading. Thank you for reading.

You are right....it is good to cut lost so that you can come back again. If you are vested in the market and the market gap down, everyone will be affected...the only thing is how badly affected. If you are not playing contra.....it should be ok. We don't know how low it's gonna go.....but I am going to nibble a bit tomorrow.
