Everybody probably has a fairy in their heart. Just firmly believe in her if you have one, you will be happy. Btw, it's pretty quiet today in the market. So probably it's a good time to ponder and reflect. |

I have been with SJ for about 7 to 8 months now and have seen it grow very fast from only a handful of forummers. I think it's now one of the most popular in singapore! |

Agree with Fairygal and I do appreciate the insights and thots shared in this forum. It is uncommon to find pple who are willing to share their experiences in trading as well as on a wide variety of topics apart from trading. This is definitely a GREAT place to learn and network, as well as pick up tips from hordes of "sifus" around. |

hahaha... Rickytan... "you really see me so up" ( ie. to think highly of someone) ... Although one can be an effective trader, or punter, one should not try intend to get rich in the stock market, because we must respect the market monster a lot. If not, the market beast will soon smack us loudly on the butt with a real explosive "WHACK!". Then it will be too late to realise what happened. One can create a small income from trading, which by the way is also a 50/50 proposition at the very best. It is then up to us to "chabod" when we start to lose. Only then can we not lose too big. So stock trading is actually not for getting rich fast, but to have some way to afford some Starbucks Premium Expresso brew every now and then. If one really want to get rich, I mean win a few hundred K or M kind of thing, one must buy the lottery, or go to Genting Sentosa, or Macao, which would be much more fanciful and enjoyable than the stock market... :) |

Good Morning ipunter, I dont agree with your last sentence " But if I want to be rich fast, I will buy many Toto or the Big Sweep tickets ". With your years of experience in the stock market, the TA skills and knowledge that you have acquired, I am sure you will definitely do much better in the stock market than betting on Toto/Big Sweep. The probality of winning in Totto/Big Sweep is damn...... damn..... small ... I have confidence in you ! You are also one of my "sifu" here, u know ? |

ten4one... Absolutely... betting big is for those who need to get rich quickly, but it is so much more risky. So it is for those who already have money to lose if lose. Whereas punting small will sometimes make you small profits, but not all the time. When you bet small, you will lose small, but you also win small small. Many will say it's a waste of time. As a punter, I treat the stock market as a teekum game. If I win, I win small small. But if I want to be rich fast, I will buy many Toto or the Big Sweep tickets. |

Your gains or losses in tradings depend on the amounts you bet and not diversification, which spread your risks over 'a bundle of stocks or other assets'. It is all about how big is your bet when you're right (or wrong) thats make the difference. When it comes to investment, it is really different strokes for different folks. You&I will never and can never be a WB or GS! Just be yourself and do whatever you're comfortable in - LIFE IS SHORT, JUST DO IT and keep it simple..............and make more money. Cheers! |

Additional lots should be taken into account to pay the commission. eg if looking for 10 lots, may trade for 15 lots. This 5 lots can be used to offset the commission. |

KiLrOy.. By the way, before we enter, we would definitely not be eyeing just one particular stock, but every stock that looks nice as we scan all of them. Then after we have selected our darling stock, we would not bother to be distracted by other cats and dogs. Well, maybe we can have 3-4 stocks if we can handle... :) In this way, our trading will have more focus and quality attention. |

I think you didnt get me. I said 'going long' - i.e. anticipate to buy but have not. Still waiting. If its downtrend, you will have to wait until a reversal happens and if its a long downtrend, you will have a wait a long time. Thats what I am trying to say. |

I echo the same sentiments about being focussed when buying a stock:). Warren Buffet has billions and he apparently has only 12 stocks |

hahaha.. What makes you think a trader will follow the trend down like a clinging lover or a clingwrap ? A trader would have dumped it before it starts its downtrend... For instance, I wouldn't imagine Singaporegal will cling onto a dropping stock... :) |

iPunter, If you are only going long in the stock market, and if that one stock is on a continuous downtrend over a long period, it will not help you to make money. I think a a trader should have a couple of stocks to help him tide situation like this. |

To me, a trader should concentrate his resources on one great stock, just like one wife... analyzing, studying and betting only on this single stock. This way, his energies will not be frittered amongst other ctas and dogs. |
