Tanglinboy, We used to buy supplements such as Omega 3 Plus, Super EPA, Royal Jelly but have since switched to products from our local pharmacy. In my opinion, I think they are just as good and is more affordable.

My Indonesian friends and myself used to buy thousand dollars of supplement from Best World when their shop was in Orchard Emerald. Now, they have moved to AMK and it is rather inconvenient to travel all the way there. I still remember they have a very special machine which can access a person health on the spot. Not sure whether they are still using this special machine. Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

i am thinking it's prob a daughter. if it is correct, then this is quite a bullish sign. Mother ask daughter to buy; or daughter asked mother, 'mummy, ok to buy or not?'

surely mother cannot sabo daughter by askin her to buy lousy stock, isnt it? If best world keep up dividend payout, the yield already is very sexy. the capital appreciation - some more bagus!

INSIDER BUYING: Best World

IN A previous article last week (Insider buying: Stepping up), we focused on the major transactions by insiders. The biggies were the focus, given the numerous purchases reported by a wide range of companies.

In this article and a few more which are planned, we look at the smaller caps, which may have interesting fundamentals or initiatives. We start with Best World International and China New Town Development Company.

Dora (left) & Doreen bought 1.3 m shares in total in two days.

At Best World, its co-founders stepped up to buy 1.3 million shares in total over just two days.

Chairwoman Doreen Tan bought 100,000 yesterday (Sept 22). CEO Dora Hoan didn’t but what is interesting is that a member of her immediate family, Li Li Hui, bought 100,000 shares. It was her maiden purchase.

Doreen and Dora already own sizeable chunks of the company.

Doreen's direct holding amounts to 12.2 m shares while her deemed holding is 75 m shares. Dora's are 12.0 m and 75.1 m shares, respectively.

Percentage-wise, they collectively own nearly 50% of the company.

The historical ratios for Best World at 22.5 cents, which was yesterday’s closing price, are as follows:

* Dividend yield: 14.3% (based on 3.212 cents a share for FY 07, including a 0.8 cent special dividend).

* Interim dividend for period ended June 30 ‘08: 1.2 cents (which went xd today)

* PE based on FY 07 results: 3.4

In its recent half-year results for the period ended June 30, Best World reported net profit of $7.9 m, up 17% year-on-year. Other key numbers:

* Cash and equivalents: $25 m
* Market capitalization @ 22.5 cents a share = $46 m
* Net asset value per ordinary share as at June 30: 23.41 cents

Just visited Best World's Singapore website and noted that there are 2 events planned for 27Sep (today) afternoon and 29Sep (coming Monday) evening, to be held at their HQ at Toa Payoh Hub, which are open to the public and may be of interest to fellow forumers who wish to find out more about this growing company....

I believe in the event this afternoon from 2.00 to 5.00pm, entitled "Celebrate Achievers' Day", many of Best World's managers and local distributors who have achieved certain sales level and success recently, will be present.

As for the event on 29Sep (coming Monday) starting at 7pm, entitled "Business Preview Seminar", the speaker will be ED Huang Ban Chin. I suppose Huang will be able to answer any questions on Best World's direct marketing business, including its history, strategies, and further growth potential.

Do take advantage of these events to know more about this very promising company and business.....

is it true that if Best World maintains its dividend payout, then the yield at current price of 25 cents = 12.8%? Super! or should i say 'Best!'
maybe that's why, after some crazy funds pared down their holdings to meet redemption, the stock is now making its way up again.

For counters of this price, 100 lots is not really surprising. Counters like Gar has buy ups of 300 lots and above.

i feel sorry especially for those who sold below 20 cents. 1) The dividend yield at that level is about 12%. With 1.2 cent going ex-dividend next week, they have forgone a lot. There's another 2 cent in final dividend which can be expected next year. 2) The PE ratio is about 3X, with forward ratio at around 2X! What a sale! I didn't expect it to fall so fast to a latest low of 0.21 from a high of 0.27...

But today the whole market is also doing a lot of "lao sai" ... Smiley
